Flamengo vs. São Paulo prediction: in Brazil, it’s a foregone conclusion

by Sabrina

Eleven games played so far in the league – with a few to catch up on due to the Club World Cup – first place in the standings with the best attack and the best defense. In short, Flamengo is laying down the law.

And they return to play at home after defending their honor well in the United States. Their elimination against Bayern Munich was obviously conceivable, as we are talking about two different teams with different amounts of money to invest. But at least the Rossoneri gave the Germans a bit of a scare, and now they return to take what they surely all want and what they surely all know they can achieve: the Scudetto. And there is also the seemingly taboo against Sao Paulo to break. In the last seven games between these two teams, Flamengo has only managed to win once. We are now talking about a Sao Paulo side that is well behind in the standings—twelve points in as many games—and does not seem capable of keeping up with a team that has the quality, as we have all seen, to take home the entire prize.

The prediction

Flamengo is obviously the favorite for at least a couple of reasons. The first is the standings: the best attack and best defense and first place are a sign that the Rossoneri have already sent a message to the league and want to stay on top. The second is that the Club World Cup has certainly given confidence to a team that will now face all its opponents with a different spirit.
