It is enough to avoid defeat against their ‘cousins’ Wales to be sure of playing in the round of 16. But Gareth Southgate’s line-up will not be content to share the stakes. He wants to redeem the disappointing performance against the USA, a 0-0 that has generated new criticism against the coach, who has been accused of making the wrong formation choices by leaving out players such as Alexander-Arnold and Foden. On the other side, however, are Robert Page’s Dragons, who need a real feat to avoid elimination. The loss to Iran, which came in the dying minutes, requires Wales to beat the English – their last victory over their opponents dates back to 1983 – by several goals and hope for a draw between the Americans and Iranians. Harry Kane was missing in the opening goal against Iran. The England striker is still on a dry spell and is desperate to break free. In our opinion, he is one of the possible goalscorers in this derby, which England should have no major problems in winning in order to secure their supremacy. In Wales, on the other hand, Gareth Bale could step up to the plate in what looks set to be his last appearance with the national team. Deployed as a surprise by Southgate, Rashford could find his way to goal.

He plays in midfield but is always one of the most dangerous: Bellingham, the Borussia Dortmund and Three Lions’ national team jewel, is expected to shoot on goal on at least one occasion playing in a more advanced position, as is Welshman Ramsey. Ampadu and Moore are in danger of being cautioned, while England’s Walker is in danger.
