Verona-Inter, Serie A: streaming, likely lineups, predictions

by Michael

Verona-Inter is a match of the thirty-third day of Serie A and is played on Wednesday at 21:00: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.

It is in all likelihood the most compelling clash of this midweek round. Verona and Inter, in fact, are still in the running for their respective goals, salvation and qualification for the next Champions League. And they cannot afford to leave points on the road in this championship finale that promises quite a few twists and turns.

Victories against Empoli and Lazio have relaunched Simone Inzaghi’s team, which in two days has reset the gap separating it from Roma and Milan. Six points that brought Inter back within reach of fourth place, even though the Giallorossi and Rossoneri are ahead on a matter of goal difference. Also dispelled was what had become a San Siro taboo: last Sunday, Lautaro Martinez (double) and Gosens put Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti, the league’s second-strongest side, back to winning in front of their own public a month and a half after the last time. On the other hand, there have been three wins in a row among the various competitions, including therefore the decisive one in the Coppa Italia against Juventus, which earned a ticket to the final at the Olimpico, where Inter will face Fiorentina. A good viaticum, in short, for what will be the highlight of May, namely the European Euroderby with AC Milan in the Champions League semifinals.

Verona hasn’t lost at home since February

Nerazzurri who can’t catch a break even in Verona, against a team that is back to hope for salvation at the end of a valiant comeback.

Verdi

Marco Zaffaroni’s men on Sunday did not go beyond a draw at home to Cremonese – Verdi answered Okereke – but still caught up with Spezia, defeated at home by Monza. Now the Scaligeri and Ligurians have the same points, 27, and a head-to-head battle looms until the last day, in which survival is at stake. The inertia seems to have shifted to the Gialloblù, who have not lost in four rounds. Verona has won its last two home matches, beating both Sassuolo and Bologna 2-1, and away from home, in addition to the match in Cremona, it emerged unscathed from the “Maradona” stadium in Naples (0-0). In front of their own fans Verdi and his teammates have not lost since February (0-3 with Fiorentina).

Verona-Inter: the latest news on formations

Zaffaroni could confirm the four-man defense seen at work against Cremonese but with Dawidowicz moving to the right and Ceccherini taking his place on the left. Depaoli, on the other hand, will play outside midfield, given the absence due to disqualification of former duty player Faraoni. Usual ballot in attack between Djuric and Gaich, with the former favored.

On the other side, Inzaghi will have to do without Gosens, who dislocated his shoulder during the match with Lazio: he and Skriniar, who finished the season, are in the infirmary. In defense, D’Ambrosio could see himself again, while the attack will be formed by Lautaro and Dzeko.

The prediction

Inter are showing a change of pace in the league as well, and with such an open and uncertain race any slightest mistake can be fatal. It will not be easy for the Nerazzurri to come back with the three points even from Verona, a team that is trying tooth and nail to get out of the relegation zone after months. The Scaligeri will certainly not roll out the red carpet, but as has been the case in the last five previous matches, Inter should come out on top in a match in which the hosts will also likely manage to score goals.

The probable lineups of Verona-Inter

  • VERONA (4-4-1-1): Montipò; Dawidowicz, Hien, Magnani, Ceccherini; Depaoli, Abildgaard, Tameze, Lazovic; Verdi; Djuric.
  • INTER (3-5-2): Onana; D’Ambrosio, de Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Dzeko.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-2
