Tuesday 10 January predictions: the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia begins with Inter v Parma, there are also games to be played in the League Cup and other leagues
The Coppa Italia starts with the round of 16, the round that usually begins to generate some interest because it is from this moment onwards that the big names in the Italian league also come into play.
To open the programme is the San Siro clash between title holders Inter Milan and Parma, one of the two Serie B sides along with Genoa to have made it through to the round of 16. Simone Inzaghi’s team will take the opportunity to return to winning ways after the controversy-ridden false step in Monza.
The coach will play several second-liners, among other things having to cope with the excellent injuries of Romelu Lukaku and Brozovic. Bellanova, Asllani and Correa will make way for a team that should have no problem overcoming opponents who, despite being among the best equipped in Serie B for direct promotion, are momentarily -9 from second place.
League Cup predictions
In England the League Cup quarter-finals begin. Manchester United, before concentrating on the derby against City, will try to settle Charlton and give themselves the semi-final by continuing their positive period of five consecutive victories post-World Cup in Qatar. In the other quarter-final Newcastle and Leicester, who played each other in the league not even twenty days ago, will face each other: on a reversed pitch there was no history: 3-0 for the Magpies, who are definitely favourites for the passage of the round.
