Torino-Udinese is a Serie A Week 21 match played on Sunday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
Juventus have suddenly slipped to the right side of the table as a result of the heavy penalty imposed on them by the Federal Court of Appeal. And, apart from a probable but not taken for granted comeback of the bianconeri, at the moment the seventh place – which at the end of the year could mean qualification for the Conference League – seems to be contended by Udinese and Torino. Behind the big ones are they, separated by just two points
It will therefore be a challenge with a European aftertaste the one between granata and bianconeri, scheduled on Sunday afternoon at the Dacia Arena. Torino dream of overtaking in the standings: it would be the best way to drown the disappointment of the elimination from the Coppa Italia through Fiorentina. This time the feat failed against the Viola, beaten a few weeks ago in the league: Ivan Juric’s side were unable to take countermeasures to the Italian side’s forcing, waking up late when things were already compromised. It was a wasted opportunity for Rodriguez and his team-mates, who would have had the chance to play, as favourites, in the semi-final against Cremonese. In the last championship match the granata had avoided defeat in extremis on the Empoli’s field (2-2), confirming however the swinging trend of this part of 2023.
Juric angry again about the market
The coach did not seem satisfied with the market transactions and said so openly after the Florence game, highlighting the fact that the exit of midfielder Lukic, who was sold to Fulham in the Premier League, had weakened the squad.
For the first time since last November Udinese avoided defeat for two games in a row, picking up four points against two of the three teams in the relegation zone, Sampdoria and Verona. The victory at Marassi was followed by a comeback draw with the Scaligeri, but it is clear to all that the attack continues to struggle. To make up for the absence of Deulofeu, who will be at least until April, the Friulian club has decided to bet on French striker Thauvin, world champion in 2018 with the French national team. Formerly of Marseille, his last experience was in Mexico with Tigres.
Torino-Udinese: the latest line-up news
As well as the unavailable Zima and Lazaro, Juric will have to do without Djidji and Pellegri, both of whom are in doubt for the Udinese clash. There will be a chance for new arrival Ilic, who made his debut in the Coppa Italia: the former Verona man will play alongside Ricci in the middle, while Singo and Vojvoda will play on the flanks. Up front the Croatian coach does not change, relying on the Vlasic-Miranchuk pair in the three-quarter behind Sanabria.
Udinese’s Thauvin is also a candidate for a starting berth, but the Frenchman is likely to come on in the second half to replace one of Beto or Success. Arslan is back in midfield: the Turkish player will keep Walace and Samardzic company. Doubts about Pereyra’s presence, but the Argentine should grit his teeth.
The Prediction
Two unhealthy attacks face each other, which is why it could be a low-scoring affair. Only Cremonese and Sampdoria have scored less than the Granata in their home matches, while the Friulians have never scored more than two goals since the championship resumed. Still, one can give some confidence to Juric’s team, which has got the better of Udinese in four of the last five matches played at the Olimpico and should manage to avoid defeat. A draw should also be considered, a sign that comes out very often with the Friulians on the pitch.
