Sweden-Austria is a match on the sixth day of Group F of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.
Sweden is in, is alive and wants to fight to the end for one of the top two spots in Group F that put up a pass to Euro ’24, a continental event that Germany will host next summer. The Scandinavians lag behind Belgium and Austria, but last Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Estonia – the least competitive selection in the group along with Azerbaijan – revived their ambitions.
The road ahead, however, is still long. Sweden, in fact, has lost to both Belgium and the Austrians and has to win one of the two direct clashes if it wants to get back in the race. The challenge with Austria is one of those inside-or-out ones: Ralf Rangnick’s Nati currently has four points more than Sweden and shares first place with the Belgians. The risk of missing qualifying for a European championship for the first time since 1996 is as real as ever. For Jan Andersson’s selection it would be yet another disappointment after missing the last World Cup and especially after being relegated to League C of the Nations League, a placement that does not allow them to count on the so-called “lifeline” of the play-offs to qualify for the European Championship. In the post-Ibrahimovic era, the coach relies on his most talented players, all of whom scored in Estonia. Isak, Kulusevski and that Gyokeres who is doing very well in a Sporting jersey.
With Rangnick, Austria has changed gears
The arrival of an experienced coach like Rangnick has instead breathed new life into Austria, which in Solna could be satisfied with even a point to keep the gap unchanged.
Along with Belgium, Austria is still undefeated:. It has won them all, except for the challenge with the Red Devils in Brussels, which ended 1-1. Last weekend, Arnautovic and his teammates did not take part in the qualifying day but still took the field, drawing 1-1 in the friendly with Moldova.
The prediction
This is probably the most interesting challenge of the sixth day of Euro 2024 qualifiers along with Italy-Ukraine. Sweden is almost obliged to win, while Austria, thanks to its four-point lead over the Scandinavians, could settle for even a draw. And in our opinion it should be able to do so, in a hard-fought match in which both are likely to score.
