Sudtirol-Ternana is a Serie B Week 17 match played on Sunday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
Sudtirol’s positive streak was interrupted in the midweek match at Marassi against Genoa, after an unbeaten run of twelve days. Since Pierpaolo Bisoli’s arrival on the bench – and therefore since last August – the Altoatesini had not lost yet, racking up a total of five victories and seven draws. The defeat against the top-ranked Rossoblù, a team equipped to win the championship, is, however, absolutely painless and falls within the order of things. In the sense that the Tuscan coach can still look at the glass half full: his men held their own against Genoa for more than sixty minutes, only conceding the goal of the final 2-0 in the second half. Sudtirol, in short, remains to all intents and purposes the great surprise of this first half of the season: nobody expected to see the newly-promoted team, especially after a nightmarish start (three defeats in a row), in the playoff zone when we are almost at the halfway point.
Ternana, like the Bisoli-coached team, also ended a long streak this week, but in this case of games without a win. The Umbrians had not won a match since last October and the three consecutive 0-0s against Bari, Spal and Brescia, combined with the defeat in Pisa, had been fatal for former coach Cristiano Lucarelli, who was surprisingly exonerated after the Tuscan away match. Now on the bench is Aurelio Andreazzoli, who after the 2-1 defeat in Venice, won his first three points in the clash with Cagliari, beaten 1-0 thanks to a penalty kick converted by Falletti. A victory that brought Ternana back within striking distance of the Bari-Genoa duo and -4 from second-placed Reggina.
Sudtirol-Ternana: latest line-up news
Bisoli should return to the 4-3-3 after the 4-2-3-1 experiment that didn’t produce great results in Genoa. Marconi will return to the bench, and Rover, Mazzocchi and Odogwu will find space in the trident. In midfield there will be space for Pompetti, between Tait and the untouchable Nicolussi Caviglia. Many absentees, from Carretta to Belardinelli, via Curto and Barison. Ternana without Capuano and Donnarumma, but with Falletti behind Favilli and Partipilo. The weapon in the match will most likely be Pettinari.
The Prediction
No team in this Serie B has drawn more matches than Sudtirol, who have scored ‘x’ on seven occasions already. It cannot be ruled out that this match, which promises to be a very balanced one, will also end in a draw. Watch out for Ternana, who may have unblocked themselves with their success against Cagliari: it wouldn’t be a surprise if the rossoverdi managed to win at least a point.
