Spezia v Torino, Serie A: streaming, bets, predictions

by Mark

Spezia-Torino is a Serie A Week 37 match to be played on Saturday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.

The fear of losing in the direct clash with Lecce prevailed, but the point won in Salento (0-0) did however come in handy for Spezia, who are once again out of the relegation zone. The Ligurians have left the red zone also thanks to the second consecutive false step of Verona, the other team protagonist of a salvation sprint that can still give many twists and turns.

The scaligeri in the last round surrendered to Atalanta and went back to third-last place, Spezia on the other hand are once again masters of their own destiny. For Leonardo Semplici’s men, it is the second useful result in a row after the victory, indispensable to stay afloat, against AC Milan. It had been almost two months since the Bianconeri had managed to avoid defeat for two consecutive matches, a very rare circumstance in a return season in which satisfactions could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Spezia must now not thwart everything in the home match against Torino, a qualitatively superior opponent but one that has been left without concrete objectives after missing the train to Europe. Two matches to be won at all costs, both the one with the granata and the one scheduled on the last day against a Roma side that will be back from the Europa League final.

Torino haven’t pulled the plug

Spezia could even close the books on the day if they win and Verona, who are one point behind, lose to Empoli.

It won’t be easy, though, getting the better of a Torino side who don’t look like they’re on holiday at all. Ivan Juric’s men, although they can only reach eighth place, do not want to pull the plug. And they proved it against Fiorentina (1-1) by reacting after going down at the start of the second half and levelling the score with Antonio Sanabria’s 12th goal in the league, one of the most improved from last season. Toro strangely continue to struggle more in front of their own public, where they have not won since March. It’s a different story on the road, with the Granata winning three consecutive matches without conceding a goal (Lazio, Sampdoria and Verona). Juric, however, was pleased to have reached 50 points. With two wins in the last two days he would reach 56, the third best result in the three-point era.

Spezia-Torino: latest line-up news

Spezia are without Moutinho, Sala, Beck and Holm, who have finished their league fixtures. In defence there is the doubt of Caldara, who is struggling with an ankle problem. The form chosen by the Tuscan coach should be 3-5-2, with Gyasi deployed at full-back and Shomurodov paired with Nzola in attack. Verde and Agudelo will start from the bench.

The only absentee in the Torino camp is Radonjic, who is suffering from a rectus femoris injury. Then there are the usual ballots: Rodriguez seems to be ahead of Vojvoda on the left, while Miranchuk should win out over Karamoh this time.

The prediction

Spezia have always beaten Torino at the ‘Picco’ since they have been in the top flight: two wins from two for the Ligurians. The granata travel fast on the road, but it is crucial for Semplici’s team not to lose this match in order to stay in the race for salvation and avoid being overtaken by Verona. Spezia’s greater motivation could therefore make the difference. And help reduce the technical gap in a low tempo match, in which the total number of goals is likely to be less than three.

The likely line-up for Spezia v Torino

  • SPEZIA (3-5-2): Dragowski; Amian, Ampadu, Nikolaou; Gyasi, Bourabia, Ekdal, Esposito, Reca; Shomurodov, Nzola.
  • TORINO (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Djidji, Schuurs, Buongiorno; Singo, Ricci, Ilic, Rodriguez; Miranchuk, Vlasic; Sanabria.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-1
