André Onana is now very close to Manchester United and Inter have the problem of replacing both him and Handanovic: the first choice is Swiss Yann Sommer.
Fabrizio Biasin, journalist for Libero, spoke to the microphones of calciomercato.it, broadcast on the Twitch TVPLAY channel, to talk about Inter’s incoming and outgoing negotiations: Lukaku and the plan B for the attack, Onana at Manchester City and his replacement Yann Sommer.
“For Onana we just have to see how to arrive at the agreed figure, whether with bonuses or without, but basically it’s done,” explained Biasin. “Now we need two goalkeepers: one has already been blocked. This is Sommer who, if nothing unforeseeable happens, will be Inter’s new goalkeeper. Then we try to get to Trubin, but it’s not easy’.
For Sommer, Inter plans to spend around 8 million. While for the young Ukrainian goalkeeper Marotta would not like to spend more than he has to: ‘Inter are proposing 10 million plus bonuses, but Shakhtar are asking for a lot more than that at the moment. So we’ll have to work on it”.
Regarding a possible Juventus-Lukaku negotiation, the journalist was basically incredulous. “Last year the Belgian said he would never go to Juventus, and that has weight. Yes, so many times we’ve seen players change their minds, and it wouldn’t surprise me that…”
“I would be surprised to see a player who a few months ago went under the Juventus curve to argue heatedly with the fans forget everything and wear that shirt. Then in football we have seen a lot, but it seems quite complicated to me,” argued Biasin.
Lukaku, Sommer, a defender and another midfielder: ‘These are Inter’s real targets’
“Right now we know there are certainties. In the direction you have Calhanoglu and Asllani, then you have Barella, Mkhitaryan, Frattesi as inside players. There’s one missing in midfield. Pereyra has never been sought, and right now the chances are zero. In dreamland you want Samardzic,’ Biasin continued. “Ausilio and Marotta had a chat with Udinese, but Udinese rightly want a lot of money for the boy: 20-25 million. Fabbian could be of interest as a quid pro quo, and other teams also like him a lot. “
“Inter think in pairs, in each role they want a starter and an alternative who can come close to the starter. In the centre there are Acerbi and de Vrij, on the left there are Bastoni and Bisseck. Also on the right, the pair must be completed: there is Darmian and another must be found. Inter had found the name, it was Azpilicueta, but at the last minute for family reasons he chose Atletico Madrid. We know that Demiral is being looked at, but he is not a priority for now’.
Should Chelsea fail to sell Lukaku, Inter would already know how to move. “Inter have a plan B, but no one knows it, otherwise Lukaku could also change his mind. So no one is told who the plan B is, but they certainly have something else to go on, even if it will never be like Lukaku. At those figures a 20-goal striker is hard to find. “
