Series C, playoffs kick off: rules and predictions on the matches of the first

by Mike

Serie C, the playoff phase of the groups begins on Thursday, May 11: predictions on the nine scheduled matches.

The regular season is now behind us. In the C Series it’s time for the playoffs, which will keep us company for more than a month: in the end, only one will remain. Many, many are dreaming of keeping company with the three who are already certain to play in Serie B next year, namely Feralpisalò, Reggiana and Catanzaro, winners of their respective rounds.

It starts with the First Playoff Phase, which the eighteen teams ranked fifth to tenth in each group will enter. Nine games are scheduled: it is a one-off competition, hosted by the best-ranked team at the end of the regular season. The winners will have access to the second round. In case of a tie at the end of ninety regulation matches, the team that finished ahead in the standings will advance to the next round. In Group A, Vincenzo Torrente’s Padova failed to live up to expectations and had to settle for fifth place: Pergolettese, however, should not be an insurmountable obstacle. More balance instead in the challenge between Renate and Arzignano Valchiampo, eighth and ninth respectively: it is no coincidence that both finished the regular season with 53 points apiece. Novara, on the other hand, will try to subvert the odds at home to Virtus Verona, already beaten at home in the league: likely to avoid defeat.

Serie C: balance between Ancona and Lucchese

With regard to the B round, however, a premise must be made. The penalty imposed on Siena right on the eve of the postseason has upset the standings

Braglia, Gubbio coach

Gubbio, coached by an experienced coach such as Piero Braglia, was supposed to face Rimini, but instead will have to contend with Recanatese: the Umbrians start with the favorable odds and should pass the round. Pontedera is also slightly favored over Rimini: both are likely to score as they did in the last previous one, played last March. On the other hand, a balanced match is looming between Ancora and Lucchese: in the two previous season matches, goals have never failed (2-1 and 1-1). In Group C, the all-Lucania derby between Picerno and Potenza stands out: in the regular season it ended 2-2 in both the first leg and the return. Audace Cerignola, on the other hand, seems to have a better chance than a Juve Stabia side that has won only once in the last seven league games. Difficult to read the challenge between Monopoli and Latina, two teams that arrive in good shape at the playoffs.
