Saturday 8 July predictions: European U21 Championship, Brasileirao and friendly matches

by Michael

Saturday 8 July predictions: The spotlight is on the European Under-21 final between England and Spain. But there are also games in Brazil in the evening

The Under-21 European Championship ends today with the final between England and Spain. Solidity on one side and prolificacy on the other. The English have yet to concede a single goal at this event, while the Spaniards score plenty thanks to their constantly proactive attitude. It could be a well-balanced final, in which it is difficult to identify a clear favourite. But against the inspired Iberian attack it is unlikely that England will be able to keep their goals unbroken again: both are likely to score.

The Eliteserien kicks off with Viking taking on Haugesund in a match that is expected to be entertaining. In the evening, Cuiaba and Bahia will face each other in one of the Brasileirao round of fixtures, with a home win also likely.

Other match predictions

The friendlies between Feyenoord and Zwolle and Salzburg and Nordsjaelland should result in at least three goals in total. At least one goal per team in Az Alkmaar-Shakhtar Donetsk and Young Boys-Hertha Berlin. A potentially prolific match between AIK and Hacken in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top flight, is also on the cards.

Winners

  • Viking (in Viking-Haugesund, Eliteserien, 6pm)
  • Slavia Prague (in Slavia Prague-QPR, Friendly, 17:00)

  • Cuiaba (in Cuiaba-Bahia, Brasileirao, 21:00)
