Sampdoria v Salernitana, Serie A: streaming, likely formations,

by Martin

Sampdoria-Salernitana is a Serie A Week 25 match played on Sunday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.

Sampdoria’s crisis seems to have no end. Last Monday, in the post-match match against Lazio, another defeat arrived, the 17th of the blucerchiati’s tribolated season. Who, after Cremonese’s first win of the season, found themselves in last place in the standings, with nine points to make up on the fourth-last one.

The performance at the Stadio Olimpico was not dissimilar to those the team led by Dejan Stankovic has offered in recent outings. There was a lot of heart and pride, but also evident technical limitations, which did not allow the attack to break free: with only eleven goals scored it continues to be the least prolific in the league. Even though there are about three months to go until the end of the games, the hopes of salvation seem increasingly feeble. A real feat will be needed to remain in the top division, not to mention that the turmoil at club level – the club has not yet been sold – does not bode well. The direct clash at Marassi with Salernitana must be won at all costs, one of the last chances to try and get back into the race. Sampdoria is looking for a victory that has been missing since 4 January, when the success against Sassuolo deluded the fans. At home, however, Stankovic’s men have yet to win.

Samp still winless at home

The Campani, on the other hand, kicked off their crisis by returning to winning ways for the first time in about a month. Against Monza a week ago the Salernitana of the first part of the season was seen again, the one that gave the impression of being able to aspire to something more than a simple salvation.

First joy for new coach Paulo Sousa after the disappointment suffered seven days earlier against Lazio. The former Fiorentina coach’s tactical adjustments paid off: in the 3-0 win over the Brianza side, Candreva shone again, moved from the wing to the three-quarter. Thanks to the three points, the Granata are now further away from the dangerous zones: between them and the relegation zone, thanks to the slowdown of Verona, there are seven points.

Sampdoria-Salernitana: the latest line-up news

The disqualification of Gabbiadini, one of the few who has found the way to goal in recent days, is a further blow for Stankovic. Up front, at this point, Lammers and former Real Madrid player Jesé, who arrived a few weeks ago from the free market, should play. In the three-quarter there is Sabiri in place of the injured Djuricic, while in the middle there is a ballot between Cuisance and Rincon. In defence, the re-established Gunter returns.

On the other side, Sousa is expected to reintroduce the pair of Kastanos and Candreva, both of whom scored against Monza, in support of Piatek, the only striker. The Pole will be preferred to Senegalese striker Dia, who is not yet at his best. Duel on the left lane between Bradaric and Mazzocchi. In goal, finally, the Mexican Ochoa appears to be ahead of Sepe.

The Prediction

Sampdoria have a horror performance in front of their fans: zero wins, only three points from as many draws, and a paltry haul of three goals. The challenge against Salernitana, after having slipped to last place in the standings, tastes like a last resort for the blucerchiati. They should be able to avoid defeat in a match in which one of the two teams is likely to run out of goals, also considering the heavy absence of Gabbiadini in Stankovic’s already sterile attack.

The likely Sampdoria v Salernitana line-up
