Reggina-Inter is a friendly and will be played on Thursday at 18:00: news, statistics, live TV, streaming, likely formations, predictions
After Malta and Spain, Inter make a stop in Calabria, where on the shores of the Strait they will face Reggina, the second-tier Serie B side, in a friendly. Another opportunity to put more minutes in the legs but also to allow the two Inzaghi brothers, Pippo and Simone, to embrace and challenge each other again more than a year after the last time (at that time they coached Benevento and Lazio).
The former AC Milan striker, after his disappointing experience on the bench of Brescia, will try to bring the Amaranth team back to the top flight, from which they have been missing for over a decade. With ninety minutes to go, the Calabrians are the only team that is trying to keep up with Frosinone: they boast the best attack in the cadetteria (29 goals) and are just back from a very balanced clash with Bari – last Saturday it ended 0-0 at the ‘Granillo’ – one of the main competitors for direct promotion. Reggina, unlike Inter, have never stopped in the last month and, before the January break, will be busy on Boxing Day at Ascoli.
Mkhitaryan back as a striker
The Nerazzurri, meanwhile, have played three friendlies in preparation for the second half of the season: the tally is two wins – 6-1 at Gzira United and 4-0 at Salzburg – and one draw, which came in the Sevilla game against Betis (1-1). It will be a strong start for Inzaghi’s men as they host Napoli at the San Siro on 4 January, a match Inter must win if they are to get back into the Scudetto hunt.
In attack Mkhitaryan and Dzeko will play again, with Lukaku ready to come on as the game progresses. Dutchmen Dumfries and de Vrij have returned but are unlikely to play in Reggio Calabria. Onana is back in goal, while Lautaro Martinez is obviously absent after last Sunday’s triumph with his Argentina side. In Reggina, young Fabbian, on loan from the Nerazzurri, will do his best to show himself off. The class of 2003 is so far one of the best midfielders in the B.
The Prediction
It will be an evening of experimentation at the Granillo stadium, with Reggina likely to give the Nerazzurri a run for their money for large stretches of the match, especially as they are in better physical condition than Dzeko and his team-mates. In any case, Inter are still favourites in a match where the total number of goals should be at least three.
Reggina-Inter’s likely line-up
- REGGINA (4-3-3): Ravaglia; Bouah, Loiacono, Gagliolo, Di Chiara; Fabbian, Crisetig, Majer; Ricci, Gori, Rivas.
- INTER (3-5-2): Onana; Skriniar, Acerbi, Bastoni; Bellanova, Barella, Calhanoglu, Gagliardini, Dimarco; Mkhitaryan, Dzeko.
POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-2
