Norway-Georgia, Euro 2024 qualifiers: tv, formations, predictions

by Sabrina

Norway-Georgia is a match on the sixth day of Euro 2024 qualifying Group A and is played Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.

In a group where the first two slots now seem to be the preserve of Scotland and Spain, for Norway and Georgia the margin for error becomes minimal.

And this direct clash, considering that de la Fuente’s Roja still has a game to make up, is almost an in-or-out match: those who win continue to hope, while those who lose either have one and a half feet out of Euro 2024 or will have to settle for the play-offs and deal with their cumbersome mechanism. Scandinavians and Caucasians, we said, have four points: so far they have collected two defeats, one win and one draw. The one who is worse off, between the two, is certainly Norway, which, unlike Georgia, will have recourse to the “lifeline” of the playoffs to qualify: Kvaratskhelia and his teammates, at worst, are already certain to play in the playoffs as winners of their league in the last Nations League. The risk of staying out of a major event again, for Erling Haaland, is very high. Norway therefore cannot miss this match if they want to keep the flame of hope burning.

A draw serves no one

The selection led by Stale Solbakken has not played a qualifying match since last June and in recent days played a friendly with Jordan, which was scrambled 6-0.

Norwegians’ only success remains the one obtained in the challenge against Cyprus (3-1), the other point came in the Georgian away match: in Batumi last March, it ended 1-1. Georgia was also only able to beat the Cypriots (1-2), but the Caucasian national team is coming off a very heavy defeat against Spain, which handed them seven goals (7-1) last Saturday, making the best of things in Tbilisi.

The Prediction

The draw, as mentioned, does not serve either of them. In fact, it would make Scotland rejoice, which in case it ends in a draw in Oslo, would already be qualified. In any case, Norway could take advantage of the low morale of the Georgians, who arrive in the Norwegian capital with as many as seven goals on their backs. Both, however, are expected to score: Solbakken’s selection has not kept their goal unbeaten since as late as June 2022.

The probable lineups of Norway-Georgia

  • NORWAY (4-3-3): Nyland; Ryerson, Strandberg, Ostigard, Meling; Odegaard, Berg, Aursnes; Larsen, Haaland, O. Solbakken.
  • GEORGIA (4-4-2): Mamardashvili; Gocholeishvili, Kvirkvelia, Kashia, Dvali; Davitashvili, Mekvabishvili, Chakvetadze, Kvaratskhelia; Mikautadze, Kiteishvili.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
