The second European friendly for Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta. After taking on German Europa League holders Eintracht Frankfurt and Spalletti’s Napoli opponents in the round of 16 of the Champions League, the Nerazzurri travel to the French Riviera to face Lucien Favre’s Nice, currently ninth in Ligue 1.
It took penalty kicks to decide the match – valid for the Bortolotti Trophy – against the team led by Oliver Glasner, who came out on top from the eleven metres (Toloi’s mistake was decisive) at the end of a thrilling and pyrotechnic 2-2 draw. Lookman, the great revelation of the Dea’s first part of the championship, opened the dances. The match against Nice will be another fundamental test to store up minutes in the legs and regain those automatisms in view of the championship match against Spezia, scheduled on 4 January. The Rossoneri, after having overwhelmed Standard Liege 4-1, lost 2-1 to Girona, confirming their excessively erratic performance.
