Modena-Benevento is a Serie B Week 18 match to be played on Sunday at 14:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
Fabio Cannavaro seems to have managed to straighten out a situation that had become critical at Benevento a month ago. The Samnites, who had, as usual, started the championship with high ambitions, had even ended up on the edge of the relegation zone last November, necessitating a change on the bench.
Gone Fabio Caserta and inside the 2006 Golden Ball winner, at his first experience as coach in Italy. The first outings were not exciting – Cannavaro had tendered his resignation almost immediately, rejected by president Vigorito – but in the last five days the trend has changed. Between Parma and Cittadella, Benevento brought home six points, producing minimal effort (both ended in a 1-0 win). These victories are indispensable to climb the slope and get closer to the playoff zone, which is currently only two lengths away. Whether the storm has passed is still too early to tell, but the very short classification allows the Giallorossi to return to fighting for the promotion objective.
Also on 21 points is the newly-promoted Modena, whose performance so far remains above expectations, considering that the Emilians do not have the same pressure as Benevento. The team of Attilio Tesser, a coach who boasts a certain experience in the Serie B, comes from an ugly blow against Bari: a heavy 4-1 that highlighted once again the defensive problems of the yellow team, the worst defence (27 goals) of the Serie B together with Como and Cosenza, two teams that are in the relegation zone.
Modena-Benevento: latest line-up news
In the Modena defence there is a battle between Oukhadda and Coppolaro for the role of right-back, but the Moroccan should come out on top. In midfield there is Gargiulo in place of the injured Poli, who will not return until January. In attack, trequartista Tremolada will support the tandem formed by Falcinelli and Diaw.
Cannavaro could shuffle the cards compared to Cittadella. Improta and El Kaouakibi are competing for a shirt in defence, while Kubica is a candidate in the three-quarter. Absent are Koutsoupias (disqualified) and the unavailable Farias, Vokic, Letizia, Ciano and Leverbe.
The Prediction
Modena have scored nine more goals than Benevento, but the Sanniti have conceded ten fewer. A balanced match is on the horizon, with at least one goal on each side, even if Benevento are the ones to give more guarantees at the moment, on the wave of the double success against Parma and Cittadella. Cannavaro’s Giallorossi can be trusted
