City could debut new signing Gvardiol, bought for 90 million euros from Leipzig, in a defense that is orphaned by Ruben Dias. Also absent are De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, with the latter to be replaced by Julian Alvarez. In Sevilla, Marcao and Nianzou are forfeiting, while former Eintracht Sow will start from the bench.
The Prediction
In spite of being in the run-in phase, Manchester City should make the most of its greater technical content against a Sevilla side that in its first league outing seemed the distant relative of the one from May. The record, then, does not comfort Mendilibar, as the Andalusians have almost never managed to overturn the odds in the European Super Cup. The Englishmen should close the books as early as regulation time – in the event of a draw it will go straight to penalties – by scoring two to four goals. Sevilla is also likely to score, in a match where the referee might wave a few too many cards.
