Lille-Marseille, Ligue 1: TV, streaming, likely lineups, predictions.

Lille-Marseille is a match of the thirty-sixth day of Ligue 1 and is played on Saturday at 9 pm: statistics, probable formations, predictions.

Between the most interesting and action-packed matches of the thirty-sixth day of Ligue 1 is definitely the one between Lille and Marseille, both fighting for a European placement.

Igor Tudor, in his first season on the Provençal club’s bench, is one step away from getting Olympique back into the Champions League. It remains to be seen, however, whether he will be able to do so by entering through the front door or whether he will have to get through the preliminary round first. In fact, Marseille is in the midst of a gripping long-distance duel with Lens, the other team that tried to contend for the title against Psg: the Giallorossi two weeks ago won the direct clash, overtaking Sanchez and co. in second place; now they have two more points and, above all, they are masters of their own destiny. And should Tudor’s men finish on the last step of the podium, they would miss out on direct access to the next edition of the cup with the big ears. In the Lille trip, meanwhile, Marseille will try to at least secure third place: with a success at the “Pierre Mauroy” it would also become arithmetically unreachable for Monaco, on the pitch twenty-four hours earlier in a far from trivial direct clash for Europe with Lyon.

Lille, now Europe is at risk

Lyon, which in order to qualify for a European cup must win and hope for a concurrent defeat by Lille, a team on which Blanc’s men are making the run.

The club coached by former Roma player Paulo Fonseca, currently fifth in the standings, must defend tooth and nail in these last few days the last useful place to return to play in Europe. Behind Lille are pawing, precisely, Lyon (at -4) and Rennes, which instead has only one point less. Of paramount importance then is the challenge with Marseille, to be won at all costs in order not to risk being mocked right at the sound of the gong. For Lille, it is not a great period: the Dogues have had one win in their last four, beating only modest Ajaccio and scoring one goal between Auxerre, Reims and Monaco. Fonseca is banking on the home factor: at home his team has lost only two games and is unbeaten even since last August. He will be up against a lineup, however, Marseille, which boasts the second best away performance after Psg, collecting an impressive 39 points out of 51.

The prediction

This is shaping up to be a hard-fought encounter that, above all, should not skimp on spectacle, with both teams scoring on at least one occasion. The three points are needed as much by Lille as by Marseille, but Paulo Fonseca’s men are unbeaten since August in front of their own public and are likely to avoid defeat this time as well.

The probable lineups of Lille-Marseille

  • LILLE (4-2-3-1): Chevalier; Ismaily, Alexsandro, Fonte, Diakité; Gomes, André; Bamba, Cabella, Weah; David.
  • MARSEILLE (3-4-2-1): Pau Lopez; Kolasinac, Gigot, Mbemba; Nuno Tavares, Veretout, Rongier, Clauss; Malinovsky, Under; Sanchez.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
