Liga Profesional, predictions on matchday 27 (28-31)

by Sabrina

Liga Profesional, the final day of Argentina’s top league is being played. Boca Juniors in the hunt for another success: predictions.

The final day of the Liga Profesional, Argentina’s top football league, begins with a match between two teams that are certain to finish in the top ten and have a good chance of qualifying for the next international competitions. We are talking about Argentinos Juniors, ninth in the standings, and Estudiantes, who have two points more but are fifth. Both are, however, awaiting important cup commitments.

Argentinos Juniors, who next week will face Fluminense in the Libertadores, are unbeaten in four matches, in which they have not conceded a single goal, confirming their great defensive solidity (only 19 goals conceded). Estudiantes are healthy, but the men coached by Gabriel Milito, brother of the former Inter striker, should be able to avoid defeat in a match of less than three goals in total.

Another team experiencing a great moment of form is Talleres, sure to finish in second place behind champions River Plate. The club from Cordoba has been unbeaten for over a month and a week ago ousted River from the national cup, beating them 1-0 at the Monumental. Gandolfi and his team-mates will be aiming to close on a high note, picking up yet another positive result at the home of the inconstant Newell’s Old Boys. But the highlight of this last round is certainly the challenge between Independiente and Boca Juniors. The Xeneize – who seem to be done for Cavani – woke up late, only beginning to carbonize in the last few months of the championship. Ahead of their two Copa Libertadores matches against Nacional Montevideo, Jorge Almiron’s side are likely to claim their third away win against a perilous Independiente, in a match promising at least two goals in total.

Liga Profesional: San Lorenzo aim to consolidate third place

It is not a good moment for Tigre. After being eliminated from the Copa Sudamericana by Libertad, the red-blues also had to say goodbye to their bomber Retegui, bought from Genoa. As if that were not enough, at the Estadio Jose Dellagiovanna comes the third force in the league, San Lorenzo, called to defend the podium.

Probable home success instead for Godoy Cruz, tenth in the standings. El Tomba have picked up the bulk of the points in front of their home crowd and should fulfil their predictions against Instituto, who are coming from two consecutive victories but have struggled away from home. Lanus, who have nine victories in 2023 in their own stadium, also have an edge at home: Barracas are not a real threat, but it cannot be ruled out that they will concede at least one goal. A one-goal match for River Plate, champions two days earlier, is also on the cards, and we can expect another entertaining match against Racing after their pyrotechnic 3-3 draw with Rosario Central seven days ago.
