The return final at Lecco’s ‘Rigamonti-Ceppi’ finally brings the curtain down on the very long Serie C postseason, which began over a month ago.
Contending for the last place in next year’s Serie B are the hosts and Foggia. It was Foggia who had taken the lead in the first quarter of an hour with a goal from Leo, but Delio Rossi’s men were caught up almost immediately, only to suffer the mockery in the final. In the Satanelli’s sights – but not only – was the questionable refereeing, especially because of the cancellation of the goal of the possible 2-1, scored by Ogunseye.

A result that now forces Foggia to do the business in the lakeside town. In the final, the position in the standings is no longer taken into account, but in the event of an overall draw after the 180 minutes it will go to extra time and possibly penalties

This means the Rossoneri will have to win by at least a goal to go into extra-time, with any draw instead Lecco would be promoted to Serie B. Foschi’s blucelesti must dispel the “Rigamonti-Ceppi” taboo. Strange but true, in this post-season they have never won in front of their own public (one draw and two defeats). At the same time, Foggia will have to perform another sporting miracle, along the lines of those of Cerignola, Crotone and Pescara, three teams that the Satanelli eliminated in a rather rude manner. As was the case in the first leg, it will be Foggia who will play the game, looking for that goal that would put everything back on an even keel. In any case, a very tight match is looming, characterized by at least three goals in total, since the draw would serve only to Lecco and the Satanelli will have to get unbalanced: that’s why the second half could be more profiled. The possibility of playing extra time cannot be ruled out.
