Lazio-Bologna is a match valid for the round of 16 of the Coppa Italia and is played on Thursday at 18:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
Lazio have a special feeling with the Coppa Italia. The numbers, in fact, speak for themselves: for eleven seasons now, the Biancocelesti have overcome the hurdle of the round of 16, often coming far in the event and also bringing home a few triumphs.
On the opening day, however, the Capitolini should not underestimate Bologna, if only for statistical reasons: the two teams have not faced each other in the cup since 1989, but the past record shows one Lazio victory, three draws and six Rossoblù successes. Will Maurizio Sarri dispel this ‘curse’? Certainly the Tuscan coach and his men will approach this match in a different mood after returning to victory (0-2) in the league against Sassuolo. Zaccagni and Felipe Anderson gave Claudio Lotito’s club their first three points of 2023, breaking a fast that had lasted since last November, before the World Cup began. Lazio made important steps forward, especially in the non-possession phase, managing to keep their goal unbeaten for the first time in four matches. The victory in Reggio Emilia allows Sarri to keep pace with Roma and Atalanta and stay in the race for fourth place.
Sarri without Immobile
Lazio, however, will once again have to learn to do without their top scorer, Ciro Immobile: the striker from Torre Annunziata stopped in the match against Sassuolo due to a muscle injury and will be out for at least three weeks.
Offensive problems also for Bologna, still forced to do without the bomber Arnautovic. The Austrian will not even be in the cup against Lazio, although Thiago Motta intends to field a competitive line-up, limiting the turnover to a minimum. Despite the absence of their most prolific striker, the Rossoblù side tasted the joy of three points again on Sunday, winning in a comeback in Udine (1-2) and archiving the false start characterised by the two defeats in a row against Roma and Atalanta.
The Prediction
Lazio should not make any missteps in a competition they have always honoured in recent years. A victory for the Biancocelesti is likely in a match in which at least two goals will be scored, a constant in home matches with Bologna.
