Juventus v Monza, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

by Sabrina

Juventus-Monza is a match in Week 20 of Serie A and is played on Sunday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.

Juventus are hurt, but they won’t give up. At least that’s what last Sunday’s disastrous match against Atalanta said, as the Bianconeri were twice forced to come back against Gasperini’s Dea.

A 3-3 that is of little use in terms of the league table, but that somehow gives morale after the turbulent week lived by Massimiliano Allegri’s team, fresh from the debacle at the ‘Maradona’ against Napoli and reached after a few days by the news of the fifteen penalty points inflicted by the sporting justice in the capital gains trial that put at risk the next Champions League. For the moment, the situation is not at all the best: the Old Lady is eleventh equal on points with Fiorentina and with 14 points to recover on the fourth place. An enormity, if we consider that until seven days ago Juventus was on the podium and had returned to cultivate dreams of the Scudetto. The coach from Livorno and his men, while waiting for the appeal that the club’s lawyers are preparing, can only concentrate on the field and try to win as many games as possible.

Monza were indigestible for Juve in the first leg

The first of these is against Monza, who visit the Stadium again a week after the Coppa Italia match, won 2-1 by the Bianconeri.

Raffaele Palladino’s team had managed to put Juventus in a difficult position on that occasion, almost immediately cancelling out Kean’s lead and only surrendering 12 minutes from the end to a feat by the re-established Federico Chiesa, who gave Allegri qualification for the quarter-finals with a fabulous shot on the turn. To tell the truth, Monza had also proved indigestible to Juve in the first leg, which ended 1-0 with Gytkjaer’s decisive goal: a success – also favoured by Di Maria’s expulsion – that coincided with the brianzoli’s first ever victory in the top flight. The Biancorossi have grown a lot since that match and today they have just one point less than Szczesny and his companions, safe from any relegation danger. In the last round they drew 1-1 with Sassuolo, remaining unbeaten for the fifth time in a row in the league.

Juventus-Monza: latest line-up news

Vlahovic and Pogba are also expected to return to the Juventus squad, with Allegri planning to give them some time in the match after playing them in a training match with the Next Gen. The same applies to the other long-serving player Cuadrado. Doubts in attack for the Bianconeri coach: Kean at the moment seems to be ahead of Di Maria, while on the right flank McKennie (in odor of transfer) and Chiesa will alternate as usual. The return of captain Bonucci is close, but the captain will not be summoned for Monza. In defence, in front of Szczesny, Bremer, Gatti and Alex Sandro will play. In midfield instead there is Fagioli.

Formation already almost done for Palladino, who only has to resolve a few doubts. In front, Petagna is in a duel with Mota, while in midfield the recovered Rovella, who also belongs to Juventus, will be back. At the back, Marì has the advantage over Caldirola.

The Prediction

A potentially hostile match for Juventus, considering that Monza has no particular pressure, has found its own game identity and in the last matches has put in trouble even the big ones (see Inter) thanks to its often unprejudiced attitude. It is no coincidence that in the Coppa Italia match the Brianzoli almost managed to snatch a draw. The Bianconeri, however, cannot lose any more ground, and that is why we hypothesise a narrow victory for them, in a match in which the guests are also likely to score, as in the cup. Since the knockout in Naples, Juve have not kept their goal unbroken.

The Juventus-Monza likely line-up

  • JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Szczesny; Bremer, Gatti, Danilo; McKennie, Fagioli, Paredes, Rabiot, Kostic; Kean, Milik.
  • MONZA (3-4-1-2): Di Gregorio; Marlon, Pablo Marì, Izzo; Birindelli, Pessina, Rovella, Carlos Augusto; Ciurria; Caprari, Petagna.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
