Juventus, Gazzetta: so many irregularities and risk of penalty

by Mike

Juventus, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport there are many irregularities: there is also the risk of a penalty in the standings. Everything you need to know

Yesterday the resignation of Agnelli and the entire board of directors. Today the choice of the new president – Gianluca Ferrero – and obviously also all the implications of the situation that has arisen within Juventus. But what is really at risk for the Piedmontese team? The Gazzetta dello Sport, on newsstands this morning, has tried to paint a picture of the situation, listing all the irregularities that the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office has contested against the Old Lady – and is contesting – and explaining what the future measures of sporting justice could be.

Everything starts, of course, with the Prisma investigation of May 2021 when, according to the investigators, Juventus’ latest balance sheets (2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021) would have been falsified through artificial capital gains and other irregular manoeuvres. Then it happened that in the same summer, Consob and Covisoc also entered the field, ‘which put a magnifying glass on 62 market operations, the famous ‘capital gains’, as many as 42 concerning the Juventus club. They are investigating above all the ‘mirror’ transfers, i.e. those exchanges of players without the transfer of money, but with positive effects on the budgets of the two clubs,’ reads the newspaper. But that’s only the first part, since then 11 clubs – even the big name Napoli – are also referred and the sports trial begins, acquitting all the clubs.

While things are in order on the sporting side, the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office continues its investigations and enters Agnelli, Nedved, Cerrato, Paratici, Re and Bertola in the register of those under investigation on charges of ‘false communications’. They were then joined by the Juventus legal manager, Cesare Gabasio, who, intercepted, refers to a ‘card that should not exist’ and that concerns Cristiano Ronaldo.

The last act on 24 October with the closure of the investigation: 16 at the end the suspects with the request of house arrest for Andrea Agnelli being rejected. ‘The FIGC prosecutor’s office,’ closes the Gazzetta, ‘asked the Turin prosecutors for the acts, which were recently transmitted. Now prosecutor Chiné will assess whether there are the extremes to have the sporting sentence on capital gains (for which Juve was also acquitted on appeal) revoked and for a new dossier to be opened on the private writings. The club would risk a fine to penalty points (Art. 31)’. In short, the picture in general is clear. For Juventus a little less so.
