Inter-Atalanta is a Coppa Italia quarter-final match to be played on Tuesday at 21:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
All four top seeds remain in the running at the top of the table in the final round of the 2022-23 Coppa Italia. And, as predicted, Inter, the trophy holders, and Atalanta will face each other at the San Siro in a thrilling Lombardy derby all in Nerazzurri colours. It will still be a drawn game: the winner will take on one of Juventus or Lazio.
The semi-final, which the Bergamo side have reached three times in the last five seasons, is up for grabs. La Dea also played two finals but lost them both, being unable to seal the Gasperini era with a title. They will try again this year, as they do not have to play any other competitions besides the league. Since Serie A has started again, meanwhile, Atalanta is by far one of the teams on the ball, certainly the most prolific. The Nerazzurri have rediscovered play and above all goals: in the round of 16 they overwhelmed Spezia 5-2 and a few days later drew 3-3 with Juventus at the Stadium. The positive series continued last Saturday with a comfortable 2-0 win at Sampdoria, in which Gasperini’s men even managed to keep their goal unbeaten for the first time in 2023.
Balanced match at the San Siro
Thanks to their success over the Blucerchiati, Dea joined AC Milan and Lazio on 38 points, overtook Roma and reclaimed fourth place, just two points behind Inter.
Champions race, then, more crowded and open than ever. Behind the irrepressible Napoli, which flew to +13 after the victory over Roma, there are Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri, the only ones – besides Atalanta – to win last weekend. Inter, with a show of character, managed to overturn Cremonese (1-2) with a Lautaro Martinez double, climbing to 40 points and putting the home defeat against Empoli behind them. The Skriniar affair, however, is the main issue: the Slovakian has reached an agreement with PSG and it only remains to be seen if he will leave now or if he will leave Milan in the summer. In any case, Inzaghi will rotate several players in the Coppa Italia: Darmian and de Vrij will play in defence, while Barella, absent due to disqualification in Cremona, will return in midfield. Up front Lukaku is a candidate for a starting shirt, but Correa and Lautaro should play. Atalanta also make a change: Gasperini will re-propose the Colombian attack Muriel-Zapata.
The Prediction
Inter and Atalanta are playing each other for the tenth time in the Coppa Italia: in the last four clashes the Milanese Nerazzurri have always come out on top. And taking the league into account, Inter have not lost in eight matches against La Dea, who haven’t been at the San Siro since 2014. The last clash dates back to last November: before the World Cup at the Gewiss Stadium it ended with a sensational 2-3 for Inzaghi’s men. Atalanta seem to have some extra motivation this time and it cannot be ruled out that they will manage to take the game to extra time. There should be no shortage of goals: there will be at least three in total
The likely line-up for Inter v Atalanta
