Genoa v Sudtirol, Serie B: streaming, odds, predictions

by Lea

Genoa-Sudtirol is a Serie B Week 16 match to be played on Thursday at 15:00: odds, predictions, live TV and streaming.

Genoa down after their third defeat in their last four games. The Rossoblù were unrecognisable in last Sunday’s match against Cittadella, a clash decided by a goal from Antenucci in the second half. Yet another defeat, the second in a row, which predictably cost Alexander Blessin his bench: the German coach, who arrived in the Ligurian capital about a year ago to achieve the feat (then failed) of salvation, is paying for a performance that is not in keeping with a team that wants to regain the top division immediately, and some tactical choices that have never worked, to say the least. In the Serie B of the 2006 world champions, it is Alberto Gilardino’s turn to take the reins of the Grifone: the former AC Milan and Fiorentina striker – Genoa was one of the last stages of his career – has been promoted from the Primavera and will have to find new offensive solutions in a hurry, considering that the Ligurians have only scored two goals between Reggina, Como, Perugia and Cittadella.

The classification, meanwhile, is not pretty: Frosinone and Reggina are running away and second place is already six points away. In the midweek round comes the surprising Sudtirol of Pierpaolo Bisoli, completely revitalised by the Tuscan coach, who has already come back from an unhoped-for salvation achieved with Cosenza. What the Bolzano team are doing is incredible: they have been drawing for five consecutive days, but they haven’t lost since August, and on Sunday they stopped (1-1) the leader Frosinone. With a squad that on paper would have struggled to save themselves, Bisoli is eighth, +7 over the playout zone.

In Genoa, the presence of midfielder Portanova, in trouble with the law, is in doubt: yesterday he was sentenced by the court of Siena to six years for group violence. Gilardino will rely on Jagiello, while the striker Coda will return from the 1′: behind him the Icelandic Gudmundsson. Also confirmed for Aramu. On the other side, Bisoli relies on the pair Mazzocchi-Odogwu in attack. In defence instead there is the former Masiello.

The Prediction

Will Gilardino be able to shake up a Genoa side in crisis? After two consecutive defeats the Rossoblù should avoid defeat but Sudtirol, as they have been doing since August, will sell their skins dearly. The total goals will most likely be at least two on the afternoon in Marassi.
