Frosinone-Ternana is a Serie B Week 19 match to be played on Monday at 18:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming
Frosinone failed the Marassi test. Genoa and its stadium proved fatal for the cadetto league leaders, who returned to reckon with the bitter taste of defeat almost three months after their last disappointment. The unbeaten run for the Ciociari, who had scored seven wins and three draws before facing Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa, came to an end.
And yet Fabio Grosso’s men had a great opportunity to take advantage of the slowdown of Reggina and Bari, the two main pursuers, who had taken points off each other in the direct clash. And so it was Pippo Inzaghi’s Amaranto side that narrowed the gap on Frosinone, who now only have a three-point advantage over the Calabrians and six over third place, where Bari and Genoa are paired. Icelandic striker Gudmundsson scored the decider in last Sunday’s match against the Grifone (1-0), and for the second game in a row the Giallazzurri were without a goal. A fact that could be a wake-up call and that the coach of Abruzzo origin will do well not to underestimate.
Frosinone will have to resort to the ‘Stirpe’ remedy if they are to recover immediately: in their own stadium, in fact, they have never lost, recording six victories and two draws. Ternana, who have suffered their third defeat in five days, will try to break into the ciociaro fortress. So far there is not too much difference between Lucarelli and Andreazzoli’s management: the former Empoli coach has only managed to beat Cagliari in four matches. Last week, however, he lost badly to Como, who had an easy time at the ‘Liberati’ (0-3).
Frosinone-Ternana: latest line-up news
Frosinone’s battle on the left flank: Cotali is struggling with flu and could give way to ex-Juve Frabotta if he fails to make it. Mazzitelli, Lucioni and Kone are definitely absent. Grosso forward will rely on the trident formed by Insigne, Mulattieri and Garritano.
Problems in direction for Andreazzoli, who should prefer Agazzi to Proietti, the two candidates to replace the disqualified Di Tacchio. In attack Favilli is favoured over Pettinari.
The prediction
Grosso and his men should immediately return to scoring against a Ternana side still looking ‘traumatised’ by the change in technical guidance. Frosinone are favourites in a match in which they might even manage to keep their goal unbeaten: at home the Giallorossi have barely conceded two goals in eight games.
