The lily-men, unusually pragmatic, scored on the only two shots on goal, first with Martinez Quarta – the Argentine defender in goal again after the goal at the Dea – and then with Bonaventura. Grasso che cola for Vincenzo Italiano, seeing that with minimal effort his Fiorentina managed to come out of a potentially treacherous match, as they always are after European engagements, as a mature team. The Tuscans thus rise to 10 points, right in the middle of the European zone: well distanced are the two Romans, but also Gasperini’s Atalanta and the Italian champion Napoli remain below for the moment.
It will inevitably be a good test against the surprising Frosinone, who after the first five matches are – against all odds – on the left side of the table, with the same points (8) as Torino and Napoli. Eusebio Di Francesco’s men have not lost since their opening defeat against the Neapolitans: teams of the calibre of Atalanta and Sassuolo have already fallen at the ‘Stirpe’, and last Friday saw their second consecutive draw away from home in a delicate direct clash with Salernitana at the Arechi (1-1).

In the middle, Brescianini has a slight advantage over Garritano, while the other duel is between Monterisi and Romagnoli.

The blanket in defence is even shorter for Italiano: after losing Mina, the Sicilian-born coach will most likely not be able to count on Brazilian Dodò, who injured his knee in Udine (cruciate ligament lesion) for the whole season. There will be space for the young Kayode, while in the midfield the Arthur-Duncan pair should be reunited. Beltran will play up front, while the presence of Nico Gonzalez is in doubt.

An interesting statistic is that Fiorentina have never won in Frosinone’s previous home fixtures in Serie A: only two draws for the Viola, in 2015 and 2018. It would be no surprise if such a result came out again, considering the particularly positive moment that Di Francesco’s team is going through. In any case, there should be no shortage of emotions, as two teams who have so far found the way of the goal very often face each other (only Inter and Juventus have scored more goals than Fiorentina): at least three goals in total are likely to be scored.
