Fiorentina-Monza is a Week 16 match of Serie A and will be played on Wednesday at 18:30: odds, predictions, TV and streaming
F Fiorentina have been busy during the World Cup break, playing seven friendly matches in just twenty days. The Viola almost made it en plein: six victories and a 1-1 draw with Monaco. This is a promising result, even if of the teams they have faced, only a couple have been of equal or higher level than the Viola: Monaco and Borussia Dortmund, beaten 2-0 in a tournament played in Romania.
Tests that, in any case, have certified the growth of the men led by Vincenzo Italiano, who started with the handbrake pulled, perhaps because of the double commitment between the championship and the Conference League, to which the lilies were not at all accustomed. Since the end of October, we have seen a different Fiorentina, capable of racking up five victories in a row on both fronts. A positive series interrupted just in the last day of Serie A with the undeserved defeat at San Siro against Milan. A match that the Viola could even have won but ended up losing 2-1 due to an unfortunate own goal by Milenkovic, when the draw seemed inevitable. Despite the fact that Jovic and Cabral struggled to break through, Fiorentina shone again from the offensive point of view. And much of the credit is due to the Sicilian coach’s decision to switch to the 4-2-3-1, a form that seems to enhance the characteristics of certain players more.
With Palladino it’s a different Monza
While waiting to see what will come from the market, the Viola will try to get closer to the European zone, betting heavily on Amrabat, who enchanted the World Cup with his Morocco team, and on the return of Castrovilli, ready to return after a long stop due to injury.
In the meantime, in the Tuscan capital comes Monza, another team that had started the season badly but managed to recover thanks to a change of technical guide. Raffaele Palladino, at his first experience as a coach in the top division, made his debut last September with three victories in a row that allowed the Brianzoli to leave the last positions and begin to frequent quieter areas. Monza had won their last two home games before the break, getting the better of two direct competitors like Verona and Salernitana, beaten 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.
Fiorentina-Monza: the latest line-up news
Italiano will still not be able to count on Gonzalez and Sottil, both of whom are struggling with muscle problems and are unlikely to be available before January. Amrabat, on the other hand, should take the field despite having just returned from holiday: Duncan could play with him in the midfield, given the unavailability of Mandragora. In attack, the coach seems to have now chosen Jovic, after Cabral has also been out of action in the friendlies. Bonaventura and Barak are competing for a place in the three-quarter.
In Monza, Pablo Marì is finally back as a starter: the Spaniard is ready to start again after the great fear of last October, when he was injured in an attack. The only absentees among the Brianzoli should be Petagna and Sensi. In front there will be the Mota-Caprari couple again, on the left side instead it is a ballot between Birindelli and Ciurria.
The prediction
Monza are less fearsome away than when they play in their own stadium: away from Brianza they have only obtained four points in seven matches, moreover against opponents who at the moment have a worse classification than the biancorossi. Against a Fiorentina side that seems to have rediscovered enthusiasm and awareness, they will struggle to avoid defeat, in a match with a total of at least two goals.
