Fiorentina v Lecce, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

by Thorsten

Fiorentina-Lecce is a Serie A Week 27 match to be played on Sunday at 15:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming

In the last month Fiorentina’s tally between competitions is seven wins and one draw. Nothing to do with the discontinuous and wasteful Viola of January and mid-February, suddenly sunk in the standings and not too far from the third-last place. Vincenzo Italiano’s team has been reborn as soon as their goalscoring average has risen: in the last eight games only on two occasions have they scored less than two goals.

Because, above all, of some players who seem to have definitively unblocked. Like Arthur Cabral, for example: the Brazilian striker, bought last year from Basel as Vlahovic’s replacement, is no longer a mystery object, and in 2023 he boasts a goal/minute average that is lower only than that of the overflowing Osimhen. In the league, Fiorentina have won three in a row (Verona, AC Milan and Cremonese), thanks to which Biraghi and his teammates now occupy a position more in keeping with the value of their squad, although they are still far from seventh place. The Viola, however, are continuing to do very well in the cups. Awaiting to play the Coppa Italia semi-final against Cremonese – comfortably beaten 2-0 last week – they have just liquidated the Turkish Sivasspor (1-4) in the Conference League, advancing to the quarter-finals. The draw was not inclement for the lily-headed players, who will compete for a place in the semi-finals with Poland’s Lech Poznan.

Lecce haven’t lost in Florence since 2006

In the Tuscan capital comes a Lecce side who have probably relaxed after the victory a month ago at Atalanta, which allowed them to mortgage their salvation.

The Salentini have lost a little bit of their lustre in the last three games, taking three defeats in a row between Sassuolo, Inter and Torino without scoring a single goal. It has to be said that the team led by the ‘Florentine’ Marco Baroni has never shone in the scoring phase this year, but in the last month they have lacked the agonistic nastiness that had allowed them to take important satisfactions in the previous weeks. In any case, Lecce’s rearguard remains the least beaten among the teams currently on the right side of the table. They have conceded 31 goals, the same as the Viola. Florence, however, has often been a land of conquest for the Salentini, who have won three of the last four away matches played at the ‘Franchi’, where they have not lost since 2006.

Fiorentina-Lecce: the latest line-up news

Italian’s main doubt concerns the attack, where Jovic – who was left on the bench in Turkey – is threatening Cabral’s starting role. The Brazilian, however, remains in slight advantage. Saponara should be back in the trident, while the Sicilian coach will ask Gonzalez to work overtime. The usual midfield with Mandragora, Amrabat and Bonaventura, while Dodò, Milenkovic, Igor and Biraghi should play in defence. The only unavailable player is Terzic.

Baroni is likely to change something in attack, as he is inclined to give Colombo a chance: the AC Milan youth product should play in the centre of the trident, flanked by Strefezza and Di Francesco. The ex of the match Maleh looks for space in midfield

The Prediction

Florence are in great form, they’ve never had such continuity and are slight favourites against a Lecce side who have been a bit dragging their feet after seriously mortgaging themselves to safety. Watch out, however, for the Viola’s need to rest, who were also involved in the Conference League this week. We would stay away from the final result, focusing on goals: both should score at least one.

The Fiorentina-Lecce likely line-up

  • FIORENTINA (4-3-3): Terracciano; Dodò, Milenkovic, Igor, Biraghi; Mandragora, Amrabat, Bonaventura; Gonzalez, Cabral, Saponara.
  • LECCE (4-3-3): Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Umtiti, Gallo; Blin, Hjulmand, Gonzalez; Strefezza, Colombo, Di Francesco.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
