Eliteserien: Sunday 11 June match predictions

by Mike

Eliteserien, after ten days at the top of the Norwegian top league is Bodo/Glimt: news and predictions.

In Europe, among the leagues currently being played is Eliteserien, the top division of Norwegian football. In those parts, as in the other Scandinavian countries, there is no rest in summer, for obvious climatic reasons.

The lion’s share of the action in the first ten matches was played by Bodo/Glimt, who made the headlines in the first Conference League for their resounding 6-1 thrashing of José Mourinho’s Roma in the group stage of the third continental competition (the Giallorossi then got their revenge in the quarter-finals). The Gialloneri, still coached by Kjetil Knudsen, must redeem a season last season that saw them only finish second, far behind Molde. So far, things are going well: Bodo are first in the standings, have not lost a match yet (nine wins and one draw) and boast the best attack in the tournament with 29 goals, an average of almost three goals per match. They are already eight points ahead of the second place team, the surprising Brann. Against HamKam, currently penultimate, a tenth consecutive victory should come without any problems. Among the pursuers there is also Tromso, third with 17 points. Gaute Helstrup’s men are especially strong away from home, where they have won 10 out of 12 points. And Aalesund, at the bottom of the tournament, should not pose a credible threat.

Betting on other matches

Brann, who have won six of their last seven matches, should not miss out on three points either. Eirik Horneland’s team, one of the main revelations in the first half of the season, is a goal machine: if we also consider those scored in the cup, they total 28. It is unlikely that Lillestrom, who so far have not been impeccable in the non-possession phase, will be able to resist them.

Reigning champions Molde, on the other hand, appeared to be on the upswing after a poor start. Since the end of May they have inaugurated a long winning streak, which has now become five consecutive between the various competitions. That streak should not stop in the away match against Odd BK, in a match with at least three goals in total. There are also lively matches between Stabaek and Rosenborg and Valerenga and Stromsgodset.

Possible winners

  • Molde (in Odd BK-Molde, 5pm)
  • Bodo/Glimt (in Bodo/Glimt-HamKam, 5pm)
  • Tromso or draw (in Aalesund-Tromso, 5pm)
  • Brann (in Brann-Lillestrom, 7.15pm)
