Eintracht Frankfurt-Union Berlin is a German Cup quarter-final match played on Tuesday at 18:00: predictions.
Eintracht Frankfurt have been unable to turn the page since their double defeat to Napoli in the Champions League. The last success of Oliver Glasner’s men predates the first of the two matches with the partenopei, dated 18 February. Since then, it is as if the light has suddenly gone out for a team that had started the calendar year on the right foot, returning to the fight for the top four.
Last weekend, despite yet another goal of the season from French striker Kolo Muani, Eintracht did not go beyond a home draw with Bochum, once again postponing the appointment with the three points. The standings show that the Adlers can no longer move away from sixth place and that they are now starting to feel the breath on their necks of the onrushing Bayer Leverkusen, but also of Mainz and Wolfsburg, two other potential threats for a place in the next European cups. With Champions League qualification now a long way off, it follows that the German Cup becomes a concrete objective, if not the only one, for Gotze and his team-mates, who otherwise risk being left holding the bag and finishing in an anonymous position.

The Capitolini don’t want to stop dreaming, and after their elimination from the Europa League through Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise, they immediately lifted their heads by achieving two convincing victories. The first, coincidentally, precisely against Eintracht Frankfurt, the second last Saturday against Stuttgart, overwhelmed 3-0 in the German capital. In the standings, the red-and-whites consolidated third place – Champions League qualification would be a miracle for a club that had never played in the top flight until 2019 – while remaining four points behind the leaders. Union’s path was also clear in the national cup, in which they got the better of Chemnitzer, Heidenheim and Wolfsburg. Magdeburg, Kickers Stuttgart and Darmstadt, on the other hand, were the obstacles Eintracht had to overcome, facing a Bundesliga team for the first time.
The Prediction
Two weeks ago it ended 2-0 to Union, but last October, on opposite pitches, Eintracht prevailed with the same result. A great balance is expected, but Glasner’s men may be more motivated than the Capitoline side, who have shown in the Europa League that they suffer from the double commitment. Frankfurt favourites for qualification in a match in which they will both score.
