Czech Republic-Poland, Euro 2024 qualifiers: TV, predictions,

by Mike

Republic Czech Republic-Poland is a match from the first day of Euro 2024 qualifying Group E and is played on Friday at 20:45: TV, predictions.

The hierarchies already seem to be well defined in Group E, where the first two places should theoretically belong to the Czech Republic and Poland, clearly superior to selections such as Far Oer and Moldova but a step and a half above even Albania. Both, therefore, are likely to have no problems in snatching a pass for the final phase of the next European Championships, organised by Germany.

The Czech Republic had done very well at Euro 2020, taking the scalp of the Netherlands and stopping in the quarters against Denmark. But it failed to follow up that feat: it failed to qualify for Qatar 2022, finishing third behind Belgium and Wales, and in the last Nations League it was relegated to League B, collecting only four points in the group with Spain, Portugal and Switzerland. At the helm of this selection is still Jaroslav Silhavy: it will once again be his turn to lead the Czech Republic to yet another final stage of the most important continental event. Since it became an independent country, in fact, it has never missed one, starting with Euro ’96, when it reached the final. Schick and his teammates have suffered five defeats and one victory in their last six outings, but this victory is not very significant because it came against a not irresistible opponent such as Gibraltar. The Czechs’ first opponent is their main rival, Poland.

Poland started again with Fernando Santos

Unlike them, the Poles went to the Qatar World Cup, although they didn’t get too far, stopping in the round of 16 against France

Fernando Santos

Fernando Santos

In the Middle East Poland played hyper-defensive football, not taking full advantage of the talents of a phenomenal striker like Lewandowski. It was only able to get the better of Saudi Arabia, falling short of goals against Mexico and Argentina. This is why the federation has decided to put an end to the experience of coach Michniewicz, enlisting the former Portugal selector, Fernando Santos, a coach who remained in the saddle for nine years on the Lusitanian bench and who has almost completely opposite ideas to those of his predecessor. As for the official line-ups, Silhavy has summoned several new faces, but the starting line-up should include Schick, Hlozek and the Florentine Barak. Poland instead rely on their captain Lewandowski, but there are also Zielinski and Zalewski, two familiar faces from our Serie A.

The Prediction

A draw could make them both happy, considering that the other teams they were drawn with in the group are not of the highest level and that the direct clash should not be decisive for qualification.

The Czech Republic-Poland line-up probables

  • REPUBLIC CZECH REPUBLIC (4-3-3): Pavlenka; Coufal, Holes, Brabec, Jemelka; Soucek, Kral, Barak; Cerny, Schick, Hlozek.
  • POLAND (4-5-1): Szczesny; Cash, Kiwior, Bednarek, Frankowski; Kaminski, Zielinski, S. Szymanski, Linetty, Zalewski; Lewandowski.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-1
