There is only room for one between Cesena and Vicenza in the Final Four of the Serie C playoffs, where the winner of the match between Pordenone and Lecco awaits them.
The return match is played at the home of the top-seeded team, in this case the one coached by Domenico Toscano: the Romagnoli will only need to repeat the result of the first leg (0-0) to pass the round and continue dreaming of a return to Serie B. No extra time or penalties: in the event of a draw it will be Cesena who will qualify. Romagnoli can therefore count on two results out of three, unlike their opponents, who are forced to win in the 90 minutes. Dan Thomassen’s red-and-whites will need a feat, as they will have to conquer one of the hottest stadiums in Serie C: there will be more than 10,000 spectators in the stands. In the regular season Cesena have only managed three defeats in front of their home crowd, conceding barely 15 goals in 19 games. The granitic defence of Toscano’s men – among the least perforated of the three groups – held up perfectly in the first match, preventing a swaggering Vicenza from finding the way to the goal and bringing home the desired result.

Compared to Cesena, who entered the second round directly thanks to their second place in group B, Vicenza have already played three games in these playoffs.

The team of Thomassen, winner of the Coppa Italia of Serie C, in the first round put an end to the dream of Pro Sesto, beaten 2-0 in the return after losing 2-1 the first leg. In the last hours the coach has recovered centre-forward Rolfini, who will have the weight of the attack on his shoulders: the only absentees are Corradi and Cataldi. All available instead for Toscano, with the exception of defender Coccolo. Shpendi and Corazza up front.
The prediction
We don’t expect a different script from the first leg. Vicenza will attack at full speed, while Cesena will think first of all not to concede goals. The match, of necessity, could turn on in the second half: the Bianconeri, spurred on by the crowd. are likely to avoid defeat in a match of less than four goals in total.
