Brighton-Liverpool, FA Cup: streaming, line-ups, predictions

by Martin

Brighton-Liverpool is an FA Cup fourth round match and is played on Sunday at 14:30: likely formations, predictions, live TV and streaming.

The FA Cup pits Brighton and Liverpool against each other, two teams who faced each other just a fortnight ago in the league. A match that ended in a resounding and unexpected 3-0 victory for Roberto De Zerbi’s Seagulls, who were able to checkmate a colleague of Jurgen Klopp’s calibre with their attacking and unprejudiced play, having already been forced into a draw in the first leg, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Anfield Road.

Theatre of the match will once again be the Amex Stadium, where the Italian coach will try to remain unbeaten with the Reds’ German coach. In order to advance to the next round Brighton will obviously have to replicate the perfect match of a fortnight ago: after a first half spent trying to sting Liverpool’s defence – which is far from solid this year – March and his team-mates went on the rampage in the second half, breaking the weak resistance of the guests. That was undoubtedly their worst performance of the season – so far – but due credit must also be given to Brighton, who have grown so much in recent weeks, becoming one of the Premier League’s most prolific teams. Since last October, in fact, the Seagulls have been scoring at least two goals a game and the only time they failed to do so was in the League Cup match against Charlton.

De Zerbi is unbeaten in his two challenges with Klopp

Liverpool, on the other hand, are not experiencing a happy moment, quite the contrary. The blank-net draw with Chelsea cannot make the Reds’ fans rejoice. In fact, the participation in the next Champions League is more and more at risk: ten points separate Klopp’s team from the fourth place, even if Manchester United and Newcastle have played one game more.

The German coach seems to be leaning towards a lot of turnover: the FA Cup, which he won last year, is not at the top of his thoughts at the moment. And then there is the bogey of the “replay” – repeatedly opposed and criticised by Klopp himself – which Liverpool already had to face in the previous round with Wolverhampton after having drawn the first match.

The Prediction

Brighton could again avoid defeat to a Liverpool side distracted by the Premier League in a match that is likely to yield at least three goals in total, along the lines of what happened a fortnight ago in the league.

Brighton-Liverpool’s likely line-up

  • BRIGHTON (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; Veltman, Dunk, Webster, Estupinan; Gilmour, Gross; March, Mac Allister, Mitoma; Ferguson.
  • LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Konaté, Robertson; Thiago Alcantara, Bajcetic, Henderson; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
