Bologna-Inter is a Serie A Week 24 match played on Sunday at 12:30 CET: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.
Return to the scene of the crime. In the lunch match of the 24th day of the championship, Inter will be on the scene at the “Dall’Ara” and among the Nerazzurri fans the memory of last spring is still alive, when, due to a clumsy duck of the goalkeeper Radu, Simone Inzaghi’s team lost in an unexpected way the recovery match against Bologna, suffered the overtaking of AC Milan and, in fact, foreclosed any chance to get back in front in the Scudetto fight.
Almost a year later, Lautaro Martinez and his team-mates set foot again in the capital of Emilia, but the tricolour is no longer a realistic goal after finishing -15 points behind leaders Napoli, now almost impossible to reach. Inter are paying for too many missteps – with six defeats they are, together with Atalanta, the team that has lost the most games among the top six of the current classification – and a performance that is not always constant. However, after the disappointing blank-net draw with Sampdoria, two victories came in a row: the one against Udinese in the championship – the Bianconeri beaten 3-1 at San Siro – but especially against Porto in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. The Nerazzurri were able to beat Sergio Conceiçao’s hostile side thanks to a goal from the rediscovered Lukaku (the Belgian striker’s second in a row), securing a decent lead ahead of the return leg.
Inter, the aim is to consolidate second place
As for Serie A, however, consolidating second place at the moment is the top priority. Inter are three points ahead of Roma and AC Milan, but the gap to Lazio in fifth place is only five lengths: it’s impossible to sleep soundly
Inzaghi will in any case find a decidedly more ambitious Bologna than last year. The Felsinei give the impression of having made an important leap in quality with Thiago Motta on the bench, and the fact that they have been a regular presence on the left-hand side of the table for a few days now proves it. With 32 points, the same as post-penalisation Juventus, they are in the fight for seventh place. The home defeat against Monza – their only defeat in the last six matches – was followed by a 2-1 win in Genoa against an agonising Sampdoria side, who were punished by goals from Soriano and Orsolini.
Bologna-Inter: latest line-up news
Motta continues to have problems in attack, where both Zirkzee and Arnautovic will still be missing, the latter stopped by another muscle problem. It will once again be the sprightly Barrow who will lead the red and blue advanced department and the Gambian behind him will have the support of Orsolini, Ferguson and Soriano. The Italo-Brazilian coach’s other doubts concern defence and midfield: on the left, Cambiaso is ahead of Lykogiannis, while in the middle Medel will challenge Schouten.
On the other side, Inzaghi will have to choose one between Lukaku and Dzeko to flank the irreplaceable Lautaro Martinez, while Brozovic should be back in the direction. On the right flank Dumfries could be preferred to Darmian. Finally, the defensive trio will be composed of Skriniar, de Vrij and Bastoni: Acerbi will be back on the bench.
The prediction
In spite of absences, this Bologna side are healthy and seem to have the right weapons to hurt, or at least create some problems for, an Inter side who may be suffering from Champions League fatigue. The Felsinei’s attitude is much more offensive than in past years and it could turn out to be an entertaining match, in which both teams will face off. Inter – who have netted for seven games in a row against Bologna – remain slight favourites in a match with at least three goals in total.
