Belgium-Sweden is a match on the eighth day of Group F of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played Monday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.
In Group F, all that remains is to decide which team will keep Lukaku’s Belgium company on the journey to Germany 2024. The Red Devils have already booked a place, thanks to their success last Friday in Vienna against Austria (2-3).
“Big Rom” and teammates, despite being orphaned of two starters such as De Bruyne and Courtois, both absent due to injury, did not betray expectations and despite some difficulties – in the second half they risked a resounding comeback – they won the direct clash with Rangnick’s selection, which was worth a pass to the next European Championship: now, to back it up, it is also mathematics. Thus, the adventure on the Belgium bench of the coach of clear Italian origins Domenico Tedesco, formerly of Schalke 04 and Leipzig, begins on the right foot. The coach, born in Rossano, Calabria, has helped “freshen up” a group that, despite the amount of talent churned out over the past decade, has failed to bring home any titles. Without giving up the senators, Tedesco has given more space to the various Lukebakio, Onana and Doku, just to name a few. For now, the field has proved him right, waiting of course for the counterevidence when he gets to face higher level opponents.
On this day, Belgium will “referee” the long-distance challenge between Austria and Sweden: for the Scandinavians it is the very last call, even if they are not masters of their own destiny.
Jan Andersson’s men, who will almost certainly be removed from office at the end of the qualifiers, must compulsorily beat Belgium and at the same time hope that Austria does not do the same in Azerbaijan: a rather remote hope. In fact, there are seven points separating the two representatives: too late to close such a gap for a selection that has failed all important appointments in the last period. In case of failure to qualify, for Sweden would be absent from the final stage of the European Championships for the first time since 1996.
The prediction
Tedesco, with qualification already in the bag, could take advantage of this to make room for several second lines. Watch out for the difference in motivation: in fact, Sweden is playing for everything. And, despite the absence of its strongest center forward, Newcastle’s Isak, it should manage to score at least one goal in the Brussels challenge.
Belgium-Sweden likely lineups.
