Milan-Lazio is a Serie A Week 7 match played on Saturday at 18:00: odds, predictions, TV and streaming
San Siro hosts the key match of this day of Serie A, following the first midweek round of the season. Both AC Milan and Lazio responded, with the Rossoneri opening a mini-win streak by overturning Cagliari in Sardinia (1-3), while the Biancocelesti put controversy to rest for the time being with a fine performance at the Stadio Olimpico against Juric’s tough opponents Torino, who were beaten 2-0.
After violating the Unipol Domus and scoring their fifth victory in seven matches, Stefano Pioli’s side were joined by another piece of good news: Inter’s unexpected defeat against Sassuolo, which allowed them to return to the top of the table and join their cousins, who seemed to have taken off after their 5-1 win in the derby on 16 September. The Devil’s side can now be said to be over the drubbing in the derby: this is demonstrated by the excellent performance in the Champions League against Newcastle – the only thing missing against the English team was the goal – and the two successes in a row against Verona and Cagliari, matches in which the Rossoneri even managed to keep their goal unbeaten two times out of three. It was the first clean sheet of the season for Lazio, who, first with Vecino and then with Zaccagni, pierced the gritty granata defence and took three fundamental points to go up the slope. Maurizio Sarri’s team had not won for almost a month and above all had not yet done so at the Olimpico in front of their own public. The Tuscan coach has perhaps rediscovered the automatisms of last year despite Immobile, up front, continues to strangely misfire.
Milan-Lazio: latest line-up news
The Cagliari turnover proved Pioli right, as he received important responses from second-liners such as Adli and Okafor. The Frenchman was one of the best on the pitch and should be confirmed as a regista against Lazio as well. Pulisic and Giroud will return up front, while the goalkeeper Maignan will be available again after missing the last two matches. Florenzi and Calabria will be in the running
Sarri hopes to have Romagnoli back, who suffered a compound fracture of the nasal bones against Toro. The central defender, ex of the match, should start from the bench: the two centre-backs will be Casale and Patric. In midfield Rovella is expected to play Cataldi. Both Guendouzi and Kamada, two of the new summer signings, will come on as the game progresses.
The prediction
The most recent precedents are coloured predominantly Rossoneri, with Lazio not having partied at the San Siro since 2019. Milan have won the last four head-to-heads with the Biancocelesti played in the Milanese capital, including one in the Coppa Italia in 2022. Needless to say, this will be a good test for both, to see if the difficulties have been definitively overcome on the eve of two tricky Champions League matches. In any case, it will be a very balanced match, in which both Pioli’s and Sarri’s teams are likely to find the way of goal. A draw, which hasn’t happened in Serie A for almost six years, cannot be ruled out.
