Atalanta-Verona: video highlights and highlights of the Monday, April 15, 2024 Serie A evening match, with moviola episodes and report cards.
After their Europa League triumph against Liverpool, Gasperini’s Atalanta hosts Marco Baroni-coached Verona in Bergamo. The Scaligeri, just one point from the relegation zone, are looking for vital points in order to secure their stay in Serie A. The Nerazzurri are currently sixth, five points behind fifth place, which without the addition of another Champions League berth to Italy allows access to the Europa League. Roma, which is ahead of Atalanta, did not finish against Udinese: the match was postponed.
Atalanta has won eight of its last 11 Serie A matches against Hellas Verona. However, the Scaligeri come from two wins in their last three A matches against Dea. Gian Piero Gasperini must forgo De Roon and Zappacosta, who are disqualified. He therefore takes advantage of Pasalic and Holm, who complete the midfield with Ederson and Ruggeri. In attack is Scamacca, and around him moves De Ketelare.
For Baroni, the important absence is that of Duda, who is out with a contusion. Also in midfield is Serdar, who is disqualified. Hellas’ only forward is Bonazzoli, on the three-quarter play Lazovic.
Highlights of the challenge
The hosts attacked mainly thanks to the personal cues of an inspired but not very precise De Keteleare. At 13′ the Dea goes ahead with its most in-form man: Scamacca. Koopmeiners serves the forward who impacts the ball with his neck, at half height: Montipò can do nothing. At the other end, Suslov wastes a very nice chance on one-on-one with Carnesecchi. So on 18′ Atalanta finds the double with Ederson on a counterattack: the Brazilian runs alone along the entire Verona half of the field and puts it in without difficulty.
La Dea continues to push, however, failing to frame the goal with Koopmeiners. Pasalic goes close to the third goal: Montipò sends it in for a corner on 31′. In 35′ the Verona goalkeeper saves again, this time on De Keteleare, served by Scamacca. The first shot in the mirror for Hellas comes after 40′ with Suslov.
In the second half, Verona starts more aggressively. In 50′, Cabal tries a volley, but his shot is central. In 56′, Lazovic receives from Noslin and puts the ball into the corner. Five minutes later, Verona finds the equalizer with Noslin: Centonze crosses and the Dutchman volleyed the ball beating Carnesecchi. Folorunsho has a chance to score Verona’s third goal with a header off a corner, but he does not frame the goal. In 74′ Montipò makes a good save on a Miranchuk conclusion. Holm sends high from an excellent position in the 80′. Miranchuck tried several times in the final, always stopped by the Scaliger goalkeeper.

NOTES: Admonished: 42′, Suslov; 82′, Dani Silva; Recovered: 5′
The best player on the field is Gianluca Scamacca: the striker doesn’t stop any longer and in the first half he puts Verona’s defense in crisis with classy plays, breakthroughs and fine assists (7.5). Bad all of Verona’s defense, which already seems to be on vacation. The worst in the department in the first 45′ is Dawidowicz (5). Montipò tries to resist the Nerazzurri onslaught as best he can in the first half, in the final game he exalts himself (6.5).
Koopmeiners creates play, then on certain occasions appears too selfish or inconclusive (6). In trouble, especially in the defensive phase, Folorunsho (5.5). Much better Noslin, for intensity and courage: he acts as a filter in midfield and scores a nice goal (7).
De Ketelaere plays with commitment but often misses at the climax (6). In Dea’s defense, the most insecure is Toloi (5.5). Bonazzoli does not affect (5.5). One of the most positive in Hellas is Suslov: the Slovakian plays with great personality (7). Too many mistakes in the last meters for Holm (5.5).
