Substantially little use was made of the point picked up a week ago by Sampdoria in Lecce. Dejan Stankovic’s Blucerchiati returned to a positive result after a bloody double defeat to Roma and Cremonese but there is little to be satisfied about. Stankovic’s men have, in essence, no alternative but to win in order to at least keep the flame of hope burning and push the mathematical verdict as far away as possible. It remains discouraging, however, the home performance of the Blucerchiati, who so far in front of their fans have collected the pittance of seven points in 15 games, barely scoring eight goals.
Spice is in trouble again
Three points that also weigh heavily for Spezia, which in this final rush must hold off third-last Verona, again breathing down the Bianconeri’s neck.

Leonardo Semplici’s team in the last round was overwhelmed 3-0 by Lazio in a match without history, and once again postponed the appointment with victory. In 2023 there are only two successes for the Aquilotti, coincidentally the same as Sampdoria’s: the one last January in the away match in Turin with Juric’s granata and the unhoped-for 2-1 at the “Picco” against Inter, which dates back more than a month. A far from exciting roster that has inevitably given Zaffaroni’s Scaligeri back their breath: the gap, after the four points won by Verona in the challenges with Sassuolo and Napoli, is only three points, a lead that Spezia will have to defend tooth and nail to avoid complicating a season in which salvation was almost never in question.

The Prediction
In the last five matches featuring Sampdoria, goals have never been lacking and only against Lecce was the total number less than three. A statistic that is not surprising, given that the blucerchiati are with the water at their throats and therefore forced to get off balance in every game. We expect a similar script in the Ligurian derby with Spezia, another team that cannot afford any more missteps.
