Getafe-Barcelona, La Liga: live TV, lineups, predictions.

by Sabrina

Getafe-Barcelona is a match on the first day of La Liga and is played Sunday at 9:30pm: likely lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.

One and only one goal: defend the Spanish title won last year. Barcelona has a decidedly soft start in this La Liga, as they will visit Getafe who, as every year, will be fighting for salvation. Xavi’s team, which has been reinforced over the course of this summer, will try hard to defend against what will be the sure assault of Real Madrid and the very likely one of Atletico. In short, it will not be easy.

Catalans certainly know what it means to play with what are obviously the odds-on favorites: pressure, over there, they can handle it well. But it is the first time for the coach who triumphed last year, who also will not have the chance to play at the Camp Nou since it is being modernized. Barcelona has changed home and it is very similar, however, to the old facility. Yes, there are no five rings, so it is definitely less impressive. But at home as usual it will be hard to lose. We were saying, Getafe: up-and-down preseason for the team that will have the tough task of wetting the defending champions’ debut even though the last outing, against Vitesse, made it clear that the team, at least on the physical level, is almost ready for the season. But to think that the hosts can take points from Barcelona is something that is beyond logic at the moment.

The Prediction

Barcelona’s season will start on the right foot and without any particular problems they should be able to win the match and take home the first three points of their season. The only doubt, but this will be seen in the long run, is whether Xavi will be able to handle the pressure that will be there as the season progresses. But at least in this match there should be almost no particular pitfalls.

The likely lineups for Getafe-Barcelona

  • GETAFE (4-3-3): Soria; Djene, Duarte, Maksmovic, Alvarez; Alena, Mata, Suarez; Latasa, Mitrovic, Alena.
  • BARCELONA (4-3-3): Ter Stegen; Kounde, Garcia, Araujo, Alonso; Pedri, de Jong, Gundogan; Raphinha, Lewandowski, Torres.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 0-2
