Friday 6 January predictions: La Liga, Eredivisie, FA Cup and Coupe de France

by Michael

Friday 6 January’s predictions: La Liga and Eredivisie on the pitch, while Ligue 1 and the Premier League make way for the Coupe de France and FA Cup

In the weekend following Epiphany, Premier League and Ligue 1 will give way to the national cups, namely Coupe de France and FA Cup. After the defeat against Lens, PSG cannot make any further missteps: against Chateauroux, a club that plays in the National – the equivalent of our Serie C – it is easy to imagine a large victory.

Tonight’s FA Cup match is decidedly more balanced, even if there is a clear favourite: Manchester United will try to take advantage of Everton’s difficulties, where coach Lampard is at serious risk of being sacked due to disappointing results that are not in line with the ambitions of the beginning of the season.

Liga predictions

The Dutch league, the Eredivisie, is back on the pitch after the long winter break due also to the World Cup in Qatar. In Friday’s early game Twente are favourites to win against Emmen in a match with at least three goals in total.

In Spanish La Liga, Rino Gattuso’s Valencia will look to bounce back after a less-than-stellar last period. In their last six matches, Valencia have won only once, drawn two and lost on three occasions. They will try to take advantage of Cadiz’s poor away performance: two draws, four defeats and just one win in September 2022 against Real Valladolid.
