Celta Vigo-Sevilla, La Liga: TV, streaming, bets, predictions

by Sabrina

Celta Vigo-Sevilla is a match on the 15th day of La Liga and is played on Friday at 7:15pm: odds, predictions, TV and streaming.

It’s really strange to see Sevilla languishing in the lower reaches of La Liga and even in the relegation zone with just a few days to go. But the first half of the season has been beyond disastrous for the Andalusians, who have only won on two occasions out of 14 in the league, scoring a measly 13 goals.

The club has rushed to the rescue by exonerating Julen Lopetegui – now at Wolverhampton in the Premier League – and recalling an old acquaintance like Jorge Sampaoli, but no improvement has been seen. Sevilla are third-last with 11 points – only Cadiz and Elche have done worse – and are far from the places they usually occupy. A remarkable comeback will be needed to try and win a place in Europe, although the Argentine coach wants to get the team out of an unfortunate situation for the time being, considering that the premises were quite different. Instead, the red and whites limited the damage in the Champions League, finishing third in the group and relegating to the Europa League, where they will play a play-off against Psv Eindhoven in February.

Third to last against fourth to last

Meanwhile, the results of the latest friendlies bode well: Sevilla drew with Monaco and beat Benfica, before smashing seven goals past Dutch side Volendam. They also passed the two rounds of the Copa del Rey without difficulty, beating Velarde and Juventud Torremolinos.

It is, to all intents and purposes, a direct clash with Celta Vigo, another struggling team who have just one point more than Sampaoli’s men in the table. The bench has also risen in Galicia, where Portuguese Carvalhal arrived in early November. Celta recently beat Gernika in the Copa del Rey, but in La Liga they have not won since last October: only bottom-of-the-table Elche have lost more games than Iago Aspas and his teammates.

The Prediction

Sevilla got world champion Acuna back but there are still many absences, from Corona to ‘Papu’ Gomez, via Delaney and Marcao. However, they should be able to avoid defeat in a Galician away game that does not promise to be full of goals.
