Celta Vigo-Girona, La Liga: live TV, streaming, lineups, predictions

by Michael

Celta Vigo-Girona is a match of the 36th day of La Liga and is played on Tuesday at 7:30 pm: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.

What’s going on at Celta Vigo? It seemed impossible for the Galicians to get sucked back into the fight not to be relegated again, but a long string of consecutive defeats, broken only by a win with bottom-of-the-table Elche (already relegated), has once again put everything back on the table. Iago Aspas and his teammates on Saturday collected yet another negative result, the fourth in a row, losing 2-1 at home to Athletic Bilbao.

The situation, when there are three days left until the end of the games, is not alarming but close. Celta can’t find their way out of the tunnel they’ve gotten themselves into and now their points lead over the third-last, Real Valladolid, is only four out of nine still available. They need to turn things around as soon as possible so as not to run the risk of finding themselves entangled until the last day: the men coached by Portuguese Carlos Carvalhal will try to break the fast of success (and points) as early as this midweek round with Girona, and then avoid showing up in Cadiz at the weekend with the water at their throats in a potential direct clash. The feeling, in any case, is that Celta needs at least three more points to get back to sleeping soundly. Carvalhal needs to get back to winning ways in front of his public, despite having to deal with the third worst home record (23 points in 17 games) after Espanyol and Elche.

Girona still dreams of Europe

In Galicia will present a determined Girona, ready to redeem last Saturday’s setback against Villarreal (1-2), the first home defeat in over two months.

David Lopez

The Catalans, having broken their four-day positive streak (three wins and a draw), squandered a big opportunity. But they still remain in the race for seventh place, having only two points less than Athletic Bilbao. Red and white coach Michel has to do without the disqualified David Lopez, while on the other side Carvalhal will be without De la Torre and Aspas himself is also in doubt.

The Prediction

Girona’s season has been outstanding but on the road the Catalans have won only one game out of seventeen. And if we consider that Celta Vigo is in desperate need of points, a token can be spent on the Galicians, who should at least avoid defeat in a match where both are likely to score.
