Cadiz-Osasuna is a match of the 31st day of La Liga and is played on Tuesday at 7:30pm: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.
The defensive wall erected last Friday by Cadiz coach Sergio Gonzalez at home to Espanyol held. The Catalans, obliged to win to get out of the relegation zone, tried hard but failed to break through the Andalusian defense. The white-net draw at Cornellà (0-0) makes happy, in fact, only the Yellowoblùs, who moved up the standings after the predictable defeat to Real Madrid and at the same time avoided “reviving” a direct competitor for salvation.
Cadiz at the moment remains out of the red zone but Valencia’s victory against bottom-of-the-table Elche once again put everything in question. As many as six teams-from 14th to 19th-remain bunched within just six points, and the time for verdicts (with the exception of Elche’s now inevitable relegation) seems a long way off. For Sergio’s men, in short, there will be a fight to the last to ward off the relegation danger and guarantee themselves another year in La Liga, which would be their fourth consecutive year. The Andalusians will try to take advantage of the home factor in the next two games, which they will play in front of their own public. Before the “tiebreaker” with Valencia at the Nuevo Mirandilla comes Osasuna, fresh from their resounding victory (3-2) against Betis that revived their European ambitions. For the Navarra formation it was the second home success in a row after the one with Elche.
Osasuna still dreams of Europe
Seventh place, occupied by Athletic Bilbao, is five points away and the margins for a comeback seem to be all there with seven days to play.
Kike Barja and Budimir
Qualifying for a European event would be a fantastic accomplishment, although Osasuna could snatch a pass to Europe by winning the Copa del Rey: next May 6 is the final with Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid, who will undoubtedly start with the favorable odds. Coach Jagoba Arrasate hopes to recover Torró for the trip to Cadiz in addition to the restored Moi Gomez. Former Crotonian Budimir, who scored a brace against Betis, is on the ballot with Chimy Avila. On the other hand, the Gialloblùs’ infirmary is always crowded, as they are without Cala, Ocampo, Garrido, Zaldua and Escalante.
The Prediction
Osasuna in the top flight has not lost to Cadiz since as far back as 1989, and despite the Andalusians seeming to have more motivation, the unbeaten streak is set to last. The Yellowoblù at home have not shined so far, doing worse only than Elche and Espanyol. In any case, a very balanced and intense match looms, which could be decided by an episode. The total goals are likely to be less than four.
