Still searching for a replacement for the sacked Bruno Lage, Wolverhampton go into their clash with Nottingham Forest having suffered three consecutive defeats that have dropped Wolves to third bottom. The team was handed over on an interim basis to Steve Davis, whose debut against Chelsea was admittedly a difficult one in light of the Blues’ greater technical ability.
Guedes and his team-mates will have to lay the foundations for an immediate redemption, finding with more continuity the way of the goal: only three goals have been scored by Wolves in this first part of the season absolutely abulic. The situation is similar to that of Nottingham, who are one length behind Wolves and have just one point in their last five official appearances.
The hosts will have to do without Collins, while Ruben Neves will return from suspension: the return of the Portuguese midfielder will certainly offer an important outlet to Wolves’ midfield. More problems in attack: Jimenez, Kalajdzic, Neto and Chiquinho are KOs. On the visitors’ side, Cooper will have to do without Colback, Niakhate and Omar Richards.
The prediction
Not likely to be a vibrant game at Molineux Stadium. There is every likelihood of a nervous contest, in which the two teams will try at least in the first half of the game to study each other, in order to flush out the opponent. Wolverhampton should take home the entire stake, or at least not lose a challenge in which no more than three goals in total should be scored.
