Wolverhampton-Tottenham is a match valid for the twenty-sixth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4pm: TV, formations, predictions.
In the week Tottenham said goodbye to the chance of returning to win a domestic trophy more than a decade after the last time.
The Spurs were also eliminated from the FA Cup, with Sheffield United, a lower league side vying for promotion to the Premier League, playing the role of executioner. Cristian Stellini, who is replacing the convalescent Antonio Conte on the bench, failed to win the third consecutive game after the two successes in the London derbies against West Ham and Chelsea. The excessive turnover decided by the coach and a less than brilliant performance from an offensive point of view are the two reasons for a defeat (1-0) that in some ways was also predictable. Now Kane and his teammates will have to concentrate exclusively on the championship, where they are in the race for the fourth place, and on the Champions League: the return match against AC Milan is just around the corner and they have to overturn the 1-0 loss they suffered three weeks ago at San Siro. A crucial match, which could also be decisive for the fate of the Salento coach, still not convinced to renew his contract.
Spurs and that away problem
In the meantime, the trip to Wolverhampton must be faced: at Molineux, Tottenham must avoid their third consecutive defeat away from their own stadium.
Conte, back in a stable fourth position behind Arsenal and the two Manchesters, is four points ahead of Newcastle, who, however, have two games to make up. The Magpies could potentially be ahead, which is why the match against Julen Lopetegui’s men takes on a significance that is anything but trivial. Wolves, mired in the bottom half of the table, struggle to find continuity. After the two victories against Liverpool and Southampton, which had lifted the morale of the black and gold team, only one point arrived between Bournemouth, Fulham and Liverpool and the relegation zone is still very close: one false step is enough to end up again among the bottom three.
The Prediction
If Tottenham can replicate their excellent defensive performance against Chelsea, their chances of returning from Molineux with three points in their pocket are improved. A tricky away game looms for Spurs, however, against a team hungry for points and still in danger of relegation. It should not be a spectacular match, even considering the difficulties in the non-possession phase of Lopetegui’s men.
