Wolverhampton-Bournemouth is a rematch of the 29th day of the Premier League and is played Wednesday at 8:45 pm: live TV, streaming, likely lineups, predictions.
Until two months ago it looked like Wolverhampton had what it took to insert itself into the fight for the “minor” European cups, Europa and Conference League, but the results of the Black and Gold since March have brought the Black and Gold fans back down to earth. The Wolves got their last league win a month and a half ago, collecting barely two points in five games.
Not even Molineux gives the impression of being a factor anymore: at their historic facility Gary O’Neil’s men have been losing continuously for three games, including the FA Cup match against a Championship team, Coventry. Last Saturday it was Arsenal’s turn, in the midst of their title fight, to emerge unscathed (and with the three points) from the home of Wolverhampton, beating with a comfortable 2-0 Kilman and co. who plummeted to 11th place in the standings. In any case, it remains a positive season for Wolves, whose main goal was to achieve, as soon as possible, a quiet salvation.
It has only one point less than Bournemouth, another team that saved itself with enormous anticipation and that is relaxing a bit: the Cherries, once they exceeded forty points, have physiologically pulled the handbrake and in their last three matches with Luton Town, Manchester United and Aston Villa they have scraped together only a draw, stopping the Red Devils at 2-2 two weeks ago at the Vitality Stadium.
The Prediction
In this rematch two teams now without any concrete goals face each other. Wolves and Bournemouth are both already safe but unlikely to come close to Europe, which is too far away at the moment. However, both O’Neil’s and Iraola’s men – the latter, by the way, has excellently replaced the former on the Cherries’ bench – are eager to redeem their last performances and could create an entertaining match, facing each other head-on. We predict a match of at least one goal on each side.
