Wimbledon, Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti can enter the round of 16 at the Championships for the first time in his career: for him the surprise Comesana.
Lorenzo Musetti will attempt to enter the Wimbledon round of 16 for the first time, sUruguay-Brazil: predictions scorers, shots, cautions
Uruguay-Brazil, a great classic of South American soccer takes the stage on Italian night: the Seleçao against Bielsa’s Celeste.
The noblest quarter of this Copa America is the one staged in Las Vegas between Uruguay and Brazil, two of the most successful and emblazoned national teams in South America along with Argentina. Suffice it to say that the Celeste still holds the record for victories in this competition, having triumphed 15 times (a record it shares with the Albiceleste). Seleçao, on the other hand, from the height of its five world titles, is stuck at nine and in this edition will try to reach double digits.
This is a “classic” that will be staged for the 27th time in the continental event: the balance is perfectly balanced, with nine wins on each side and eight draws. Brazil in the group stage somewhat disappointed expectations, finishing second behind Colombia. Two draws and one win for Dorival Jr.’s Canarinha, which shone only against Paraguay on the second day, overwhelming the Albirroja with a peremptory 4-1 victory. Under the former São Paulo coach, Brazil is still unbeaten-he has been in charge since last March-but more continuity is needed to turn the page for good. Uruguay, on the other hand, has shown no weaknesses in the three matches played in the group stage: the “Bielsa cure” has worked like a charm, and after the bombastic victories with Panama and Bolivia, Valverde and his teammates also archived the USA practice, bent by a goal from Napoli defender Mathias Olivera.
Uruguay-Brazil, will Rodrygo manage not to make Vinicius regret it?
Having to do without the disqualified Vinicius Jr., Brazil is betting heavily on his Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo, who came back from a colorless performance against Colombia.
Without his “twin,” the Blancos striker will fill the role of high outside left: starting on the flank he could make himself even more dangerous and it cannot be ruled out that he could also break the goal fast (he is still dry). On the right, on the other hand, Raphinha will create a lot of headaches for Uruguay’s defense: the Barcelona outfielder was one of the best against Colombia, even going so far as to score the goal of the momentary lead. The other Brazilians to bet on as far as total shots are concerned are Paquetà and Bruno Guimaraes, while among the Uruguayans, Nunez and Valverde will play a starring role, who should register at least three and two shots toward the goal defended by Alisson, respectively. Finally, those at risk of ending up in Argentine referee Herrera’s notebook are Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes, who has already received a yellow card, and Uruguayans Ronald Araujo and Vina.

overcoming the hurdle of the third round. The early eliminations of Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in his quadrant will “grease” the talent from Carrara, who would seem – on paper – to have a clear path to the quarters.
After winning in 5 sets over compatriot Darderi in the second round, for Musetti there is the big surprise of this edition of Wimbledon, the Argentinean Francisco Comesana, who until a few days ago had never won a match at Atp level. A real “fairy tale” that of the current number 122 in the world rankings, able to take the scalp of a very nervous Rublev in his debut and prevail over the Australian Walton – more accustomed than him to playing on grass – after 5 hard-fought sets. Comesana is well within Musetti’s reach, but the Carrarino should not make the mistake of underestimating him too much. If the Azure remains on the piece he will bring the match home without major problems, although the Argentine, who is “on fire” and has nothing to lose, could snatch at least a partial from him.
Djokovic, watch out for Popyrin
Roman Safiullin dreams of going as far as possible like last year, when he stopped in the quarterfinals in his match with Jannik Sinner. The Russian appeared very solid in his matches with Cerundolo and Machac and does not start undefeated against Frenchman Arthur Fils, to whom, however, he lost twice in his career (Lille ’22 and Marseille ’23).
U.S. Taylor Fritz, number 12 in the world, did not take too many risks with O’Connell and Rinderknech, and in the third round he will find an opponent, Chilean Tabilo, who is back from a grueling marathon with Italian Cobolli, who held him for five sets: we expect a fairly clear success from the American, who on grass can take advantage of his very powerful serve. French talent Mpetshi Perricard, who has been blossoming just in the last few months, can also do it. A hard-fought match with Finland’s Ruusuvuori looms, but the transalpine tennis player, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser, deserves confidence after wins over more experienced players such as Korda and Nishioka. Alexander Zverev has not lost a single set so far and is a clear favorite against host Norrie, while Australian Alexei Popyrin could create some headaches for a Novak Djokovic still conspicuously far from his best condition. Easy task, finally, for Dane Holger Rune, engaged with Halys.
