Before the King’s Cup challenge, the blaugrana had cashed in on two defeats, both of them accruing in front of their own fans: the first with newly promoted Leganes and the second with Atletico.
And Athletic? Behind the big three are the Basques, who in 19 days have scored only two points less than Barcelona (36). Ernesto Valverde’s team has not lost since October, considering all competitions, and wants to do well in the Super Cup as well. There are the pressuppositions to witness a balanced match that is anything but a foregone conclusion, given the moment Barcelona is going through: both teams should score at least once.
