Wednesday 4 January predictions: Serie A, Premier League, King’s Cup
Finally it’s back to business: after the long break for the Winter World Cup in Qatar this Wednesday the Serie A starts again with all ten matches on matchday 16. It kicks off at 12:30 with AC Milan, without many starters, facing Salernitana, always a hostile side at the Arechi: both teams could score, as well as in the eagerly awaited big match between Inter and Napoli at 20:45, fundamental in terms of the Scudetto.
Roma, who find again Dybala, back as World Champion with Argentina, ask the way to Bologna, in the Champions League zone, all in reach away games for Atalanta and Lazio against Spezia and Lecce respectively. Both should at least avoid defeat in games of at least two goals in total.
Juventus, who had finished on a high before the break, can restart with a victory on the Cremonese pitch, while the always offensive Fiorentina of Italiano, who gave a performance in the friendlies, should expect a match with at least three goals.
Premier League and King’s Cup predictions
In the Premier League there are four matches: Southampton-Nottingham Forest, Leeds-West Ham, Aston Villa-Wolverhampton and Crystal Palace-Tottenham. In the West Ham in crisis and in the middle of the relegation zone David Moyes is one step away from the abyss and will try to avoid exoneration by getting a result against Leeds in a goal game.
Aston Villa, revitalised by the Emery cure, can get the better of Wolverhampton who, with Lopetegui on the bench, started 2023 with a defeat. Antonio Conte after the bad figure with Aston Villa will ask his team for maximum concentration in the derby against Crystal Palace.
In the Copa del Rey, a goleada by Barcelona is expected, while Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are also well within reach.
